We had monster musicians, pro sound and lights and a full turn out, so what does that leave? Maybe Roch Doran or Sue Glumac would care to give a write-up, as they were there. Although not a fan of Mariah/Christina runs, it is great to see what a young singer with these capabilities does with "Help Me". Fair amount of criticism of the song choice in comments, but that's probably true of a lot of the performances, Anita > On 12 Nov 2014, at 02:53, c Karma wrote: > > Danica Shirey just sang "Help Me" via coach/producer Pharrell Williams. > "This song is really hard it has like 20 chord changes." > Afterward. I was especially proud because I was alerted to it by MY SON who was watching the show and texted me about it (Daddy beams with pride!). As for the performance, it was fairly solid. Like you say, NOT an easy song to sing. Some nice moments sandwiched in between sharp and flat notes. The song swerves enough on its own without adding the runs, I found them distracting. And it's not because I'm locked into Joni's version - I've heard over 50 different recordings of the song. Sidebar: It's funny that Joni's BIGGEST hit is not even in the top ten of her most-covered. Again, I think it speaks to the difficulty factor. Sidebar #2: We're about to go over the 1,000 mark of BSN covers. (And there was much rejoicing in all the land). Sidebar #3: This makes the 2nd time we've gotten a Joni song on The Voice, the first being A Case of You last year. I don't know that a Joni tune has EVER been done on American Idol. The Voice is now more popular than American Idol. You can come to your own consequences. I was so excited that I was selected to paint a painting for her music video Adding the Blue which was released today.
