However, I can always remember my first hearing of the Dawntreader when everyone else (well pop and folk that I seemed to hear) seemed to be playing standard C,G and D. It did sound like she had invented new guitar chords. I marvel to this day (as y'all know), Anita. > On 5 Nov 2014, at 13:17, Bob.Muller@Fluor.com wrote: > > This was an enjoyable read, although I always bristle when I read someone > saying that Joni invented a bunch of chords. > > Bob > > NP: Barnaby Bright, "Remember When" > > > > From: Les Irvin > To: Joni List , > Date: 11/04/2014 11:29 PM > Subject: Cameron Crowe honors Joni > Sent by: owner-joni@smoe.org > > > > http://hammer.ucla.edu/blog/2014/11/cameron-crowe-honors-joni-mitchell/ > > ------------------------------------------------------------ > The information transmitted is intended only for the person > or entity to which it is addressed and may contain > proprietary, business-confidential and/or privileged material. > If you are not the intended recipient of this message you are > hereby notified that any use, review, retransmission, dissemination, > distribution, reproduction or any action taken in reliance upon > this message is prohibited. Jonifest Awesome Dave! Y'all are certainly key participants and hopefully can introduce you Mutts to the East Coast. Some additional notes - to those looking at travel, GSP (Greenville/Spartanburg) is the closest airport, about 15 minutes away from downtown where things will be located. it's a small airport, nice and easy in and out. Since Southwest signed on, airfares have become much lower. Charlotte NC is about 1.5/2 hours away and can sometimes offer cheaper flights if you want to investigate that option.. Atlanta is about 2.5/3 hours away. Meanwhile - if you're reading this and are interested, feel free to message me offlist with a response (definitely interested....definitely coming...etc) It'll help me to get some numbers to set up housing options. I think the area will lend itself well to the format established by Ashara, Mikey, Dave and others. Schedule looking to be as follows: Thursday, September 3 arrival and informal open-mike playing (can be done at nearby Cork and Tap or if I secure a "compound" like we had at the last New Orleans fest) Friday & Saturday activities - there's a LOT of nearby hiking and outdoors opportunities, there are several museums and other sightseeing things of interest, Falls Park downtown has a myriad of locations to see and do, open to other suggestions as well. Friday night - would ideally like to have performances by Dave & Robin and Laurie if any or both is possible. Performance space - The Bohemian, that features a nice stage/sound system attached to a full restaurant bar with all options of food and drink. Saturday night - would love to have a potpourri of local musicians do a Joni tribute ala what Mike's done at The Howling Wolf. I've got some contacts and know folks who have more. Would love to have this event at the venue that USED to be the Handlebar and will be reopening soon. Sunday would be open for whatever; some folks will be heading home, whatever else people want to see and do in the area. That's about what I've put together so far. Definitely open to suggestions! I feel like it's time for me to pay back to the folks who have hosted in the past and Upstate SC does have a lot to offer.
