It is because Little Green posted a beautiful picture of a seagull with the caption "song to a shithawk" on Facebook. I laughed so hard I almost woke my family late at night. So funny and so true!! The romanticized version of seagulls as silly seabirds is priceless from Jon, but seagulls are basically very mean birds and will divebomb you and excrete on you from the sky. Shithawks... I get it, oh yeah!!! Now I hope you all do too. Lovely day, Laura PS. Watch your head out there in the beach. This time of year reminds me of the State Fair, and coincidentally there's a couple of Midways here to remind you of the same. A couple names here you may know...Katey Sagal - (aka Peg Bundy), James Wolpert who did ACOY on The Voice. A mini-set from Anna Carow. Most of these hail from last year (still trying to catch up) and one oldie on vinyl. Some great stuff! Thank to Paul and Les for their help. https://www.yousendit.com/download/UlRRck80eDNlaFN2eE1UQw 1. Steve Klink - That Song About The Midway2. Yasuhiro Suzuki - Both Sides Now3. I just came across a brand new book at the library about history of rock by a Brit whose name escapes me now, he discusses Joni briefly under the Laurel Canyon chapter and relays an anecdote, and its just gossip, but it with Joni and a very drunk Eric Andersen in the studio and Jimmy Webb drops by. Eric is quite rude to Jimmy, calling him Mr. Balloons (in reference to Up Up and Away) sort of implying Webb is "square" and associated with the likes of Glen Campbell rather than the ultra-cool Laurel Canyon scene. Again its just gossip, I'm sure Eric's a decent guy. But Joni has such class. That's why she's Siquomb! (The writer says Hissing is her best album) I think that album was very popular in Britain. (More so than in the States) I remember my first book ever on rock was by NME published in the late 70's and they also considered Hissing a high point.B B ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2014 #334 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here:mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe
