I'm glad that Joni is anchoring it. I hate the thought of her crawling around naked around the house for several years. I thought Shine was a masterpiece. I think the first review of her first album in Rolling Stone summed it up, how she makes something special in the most mundane circumstances. She seemed to hanging around with Jane Fonda for awhile. What happened with that? Is everyone supposed to be lining up to see this new movie with her (Jane) and Justin Bateman and that chick from Saturday Night Live. They did a great album with Laura Nyro called "Gonna Take a Miracle". She sang one of Laura's songs. Following her performance she "mingled". I had the great pleasure of spending about an hour with her talking about when she shared a flat with Laura Nyro in Harlem. I think it might be one of the most incredible, insightful discussions I've ever had. I felt like I met Laura through Sarah's insights. Sometimes there are random "stars" in the audience (and it can be pricey!!). I wish I was going on the 4th but have business in Philly that day. Please let me know if you go. BTW, don't know how old you are but 54 below is the converted basement below a quite famous, at the time, club called Studio 54. I am going to be in DC Sept 25-30 and in NYC Oct 1-6. Hope there is something happening. It is a great venue and they have an upcoming "Back To The Garden" which is the music of Joni, Carol King and Laura Nyro. Current broadway stars perform and, having seen it twice, I highly recommend it. Somebody I was talking to recently mentioned Camille Paglia and I said well I think theres an interview with her and Joni Mitchell, just go on to Joni Mitchell.com. And by the way, did you know she was the muse of Led Zeppelin, inspiring the song Going to California? Oh really, I thought she wrote that song Send in the Clowns for Judy Collins. No, she wrote Both Sides Now for Judy Collins. Actually she didn't write it for Judy Collins, she wrote it for herself. Didn't Joni reinterpret the Bible with songs like Passion Play and The Sire of Sorrow? I'm sorry if I'm not a fan of Last Chance Lost, I find it super annoying. I like Shiny Toys. I have seen a couple of great shows dedicated just to Joni with Tony award winning Broadway people performing. This show is not just Joni but also the music of Laura Nyro and Carole King (I saw it before and it's a great show). I have seen a number of great shows there and usually the performers will mingle after they perform. In particular,Party Lupone ( who performs there often) and Bebe Neuwirth ( also there often). Both mingle after performances. I had the pleasure of a long discussion with Sarah Dash of the "girl group" Labelle (originally the Bluelells then Party Labelle and the Bluebells).
