I don't see that having anything to do with her as a person except for the fact that I respect her talent, her artistic soul, and her courage. The video that Laura just posted about her depth is a perfect example. For a very long time my "dream job" would've been to be her personal or executive assistant. However ... I am certain that if Joni wanted to meet any or all of us, she knows how to do so. I know she's met some people from the JMDL due to various circumstances, but on the whole I don't think Joni is itching to get to know more people than she already knows, and certainly not from a group of "internet people" regardless of how interested and/or devoted we may be to her or to her music, paintings, philosophies, or favorite brand of cigarettes. (That last part is a bit of a joke in case it's not clear.) It would bother me to know that people might be "stalking" Joni in an effort to "get to know" her. Please, let's respect that Joni Mitchell has not even desired to be a member of the JMDL and let's continue to respect her privacy. Certainly she's given up enough of her privacy over the last few decades. Joni has given the world so much. Let's be happy with that. The list as well as the Jonifests are wonderful! When I went to my first Jonifest I only had one year of sobriety, and it was very difficult for me. But everybody made me feel so welcomed and loved. There was no better place for me to have the courage without liquid courage to get up onstage! Musically as well as personally my life has really changed because of everybody here. And I am very thankful! I bet there is no other artist who has a more diverse, talented, and caring group of once strangers who have become friends because of her.
