If you donated, and can't wait for 10 days or so, send me your address privately and I'll get that to you now if you like. Donor envelopes are stuffed and ready to go, but they are in Oakland and I'm in Los Angeles for a break (with supplies!) Origin Records told me it was okay to go on ahead and send the CD's as the critics just got them and the word is hitting the street. First review (this guy must be a speed listener and speed writer!): http://www.criticaljazz.com/2014/07/laurie-antonioli-songs-of-shadow-songs.html I let Les know you are the *only* people who get to know about this early send off - it says "August 1" on my home page as I need to buy some time. Send me a quick note at laurieantonioli@gmail.com and I'll know it's you! Wishing you a great day - I follow everything you say here and don't chime in much, but love to read the latest on Joni or what's on your mind. The record you refer to at the end, I and Peter Carney ( first buyer of the Joni sunburst in 2003) separately drove miles to get a copy of the record in order to enter the competition. Of course we didn't know each other back in '83, but the special records were only available at certain shops and we were both devoted Joni fans, so driving miles seemed a good plan.100 signed prints of the cover of WTRF were the prizes. I got numerous friends to enter and so did Pete. When he and I first met in 2004, we both discovered that we each had done the same -won ten copies of the print and both of us had given nine away to Joni fans we met along the way. My only remaining copy is framed in my lounge and Pete's is in his study. I would describe Peter and his wife Pat as among my very best friends. What a wonderful off shoot of Joni's music,to meet such great people Anita > On 11 Jul 2014, at 12:57, simon@icu.com wrote: > > According to Wikipedia 1973 was the first year since she began recording that Mitchell did not release a new album. > > This is technically accurate, but misses the point since any record released in Jan. 1974 was recorded, mastered and > manufactured in 1973. > > In Dec., Asylum Records released a new single, her first in over a year, "Raised On Robbery". > > However, there WAS an earlier version. > > In Sept. Is it just a remix, possibly including some previously rejected vocal parts. "If I Could Only Remember My Name" is a musically adventurous album of improvisational brilliance. It's exceptionally well recorded and sonically Stunning! (especially the Vinyl LP) Just an amazing piece of work. He's clearly returned to form with the new album "Croz" But first ... - - - - - - I recently decided to assemble some (5) of my favorite Crosby songs and burn them to a CD for easy listening on the road, in the car. Please ... check them out for yourself. You can DownLoad a copy @ Here's what you'll find. 1. The BYRDS: Everybody's Been Burned (Rec. date 12/07/66) One of the greatest Byrds tracks and Crosby's finest composition to date (ie: 1967) 2. The BYRDS: Have You Seen Her Face (Rec. date 11/29/66) This is actually a Chris Hillman song, but there's no mistaking THAT voice, THAT tenor. 3. DAVID CROSBY: Laughing (1970) Crosby states "Written to and for George Harrison about the Maharishi, and the idea was telling him that nobody's really got "the answer," and that people [who] try to tell you that they have the answer are most often trying to manipulate you in some fashion or another. I think that the Maharishi was one of the more benevolent of those people than most, certainly more than the one who has 20 Rolls-Royces or whatever, like the Reverend Moon and some of the other lovelies that are out there manipulating human beings. I was just trying to tell George that there wasn't an external fix. The closest you can get to it is looking at children: they've got more of an answer than any religion I ever saw." 4. DAVID CROSBY: Yvette In English (1993) Co-written by Joni Mitchell & David Crosby 5. DAVID CROSBY: My Country 'Tis Of Thee (1989) Arranged by: Michael Hedges Additional voices: Graham Nash, John David Souther Guitar & guitar arrangement: Michael Hedges Bass: Leland Sklar - - - - - Enjoy!
