Let's see if Muller's work email allows this one through. As far as influences, I think it's all part of that chick-with-guitar vs chick-with-piano thing. If you're a woman and you play guitar, you're "another Joni Mitchell" and, as we all know, Joni is possibly another Kitty Wells. I've heard Tori Amos compared to Kate Bush as well. I've also read that Madonna is a Joni fan. As far as who influenced whom, it's hard not to be influenced by someone, but hard to be as good as some of them. Joni is both a guitarist and a pianist. I've never seen Madonna play an instrument, but then, I'm not a big fan of hers and have never seen her live. I don't even know if she writes her own songs but I suppose she must. A few weeks ago, your work email rejected one of the emails I sent, but I had a look through and couldn't really see the reason, but your work email is very persnickety and judgmental! As far as being influenced, wouldn't it suck if you were a songwriter who really hated a particular artist but could only write songs that sounded like that person? >________________________________ > From: "Bob.Muller@Fluor.com" >To: Catherine McKay >Cc: joni@smoe.org >Sent: Tuesday, March 18, 2014 12:53:30 PM >Subject: Re: Tori Amos, not Anos > > >Muller's >work email allows this one through.> > >It passed right through the sphincter of our servers, Catherine.
