My daughter, the art-school dropout, used to go crazy trying to think of what to say in those. And therein lies the key: crazy. Having read a bunch of them, it's hard to know whether some of these people are completely flip-city, or just having a good laugh at others' expense, perhaps while high on the drug of their choice. As long as it keeps them from killing people, I suppose it's all good. By the way, my daughter tells me she came across "starseed" watching "Sailor Moon" cartoons. I just looked it up, and this artist didn't make the word up. If you'd like to know whether or not you are a starseed, check this out: http://www.in5d.com/are-you-a-starseed.html I prefer to think that we're stardust, golden, etc. I recently read something or saw a film that used a different expression for this and now I can't remember what the word was, and it's going to drive me nuts. All I can remember is Edwardian England, lots of kids, living in the country, parents running around having affairs with various people. - ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Bob.Muller@Fluor.com" > To: Moni Kellermann > Cc: "joni@smoe.org" > Sent: Tuesday, March 4, 2014 1:04:57 PM > Subject: Re: Your notches liberation doll (not) > > Aauuuuugh!!! Interesting video clip; I had never seen Bette Midler doing a Joni song before. Thanks for sharing. Kenny B From: c Karma Subject: re: Bette's "For Free" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0akzSSQ2UcY That's an interesting bluesy waltz take on the song. Kinda throws a little Kurt Weill spin on it, a little Bojangles angleboth very busker appropriate. Funny but after hearing and reading about her having performed at the Continental Baths, I expected her to be wrapped in a towel. The video is fuzzy, but might that be Barry Manilow on the out of tune piano? I saw one of the Flicker pictures is a party with her. Does she meet fans? I am just curious. I didn't join to meet her. I joined because it was recommended I do new things for myself. I'm grieving my wife who recently passed. I didn't want to say that so soon here but you all are so kind. Hi Trish, I am sad to hear of your great loss. I can't imagine losing a spouse but did lose my mother in 1999 and still grieve sometimes. May you find the peace and the star. Some of us on the list have been blessed to meet Joni. I met her about a year and a half ago at an event in BC near where she lives. It was a beautiful night, and she pointed out the moon to me. There was/is something sacred in that moment. I have never seen her perform unfortunately. I missed my chance at Luminato in Toronto for several reasons. I hope there will be another opportunity. Again my heart goes out to you. I do like the artist's explanation of why she used mirrors for their clothing, because that is really probably why we like anyone: because it's all about me. I think I would have nightmares after seeing an exhibit like that though. - ----- Original Message ----- > From: Moni Kellermann > To: "joni@smoe.org" > Cc: > Sent: Tuesday, March 4, 2014 12:11:48 PM > Subject: Your notches liberation doll (not) > > http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/25/rachel-mason-starseeds_n_4848540.html > > Ms. Mason who, in her own words is from another planet, has created a > Joni Mitchell doll (the direct link to the JM doll is > http://i.huffpost.com/gen/1641442/thumbs/o-JONI-MITCHELL-900.jpg). > > > > moni k. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Mar 2014 19:45:00 -0800 (PST) From: Catherine McKay Subject: Re: Your notches liberation doll (not) She also has a band (see, and hear, the "music" and/or "video" section at her website, if you dare: http://www.rachelannmason.com/).
