The party was an after-party at Massey Hall that fellow listers Sue Tierney, Patti Parlette and Jodie Johnston managed to get into, in the hope that Joni would show. Unfortunately (but perhaps predictably), Joni didn't show. We did get to meet some of the band members and Rufus Wainwright and some of the other performers at the Massey Hall tribute were there, but left before we could talk to them. I do know from overhearing Rufus W that Joni was somewhere upstairs hiding out. I guess if I were really pushy, I could have tried to get into that, but I don't believe in being obnoxious in that way. (I am very obnoxious in other ways, though.) Some of the other photos, where she's being interviewed and wearing what looks like a parachute suit (for lack of better words) are from an interview the night before with Brian Blade and Jon Pareles of the New York Times. I love how animated she was there. I guess I should label the photos. I have been a member of the list since the late 1990's. I went to one Jonifest which was in upstate New York (near Woodstock). From what I am hearing, I must be one of the "elders" in the group. I was raised in Bucks County PA which borders Philadelphia. I have been a fan of Joni's since I was in high school (late 60's). I have seen her more times then I can count. I saw her early on at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Main Point in Philly (now closed), Mann Music Center, Temple University, Spectrum, among others. I didn't get to see her at the second fret (a now defunct Philly coffee house) BUT I did go to a benefit about 3 years after that appearance. At the benefit I had the rare pleasure of sitting at a table with a Gene Shey and Ed Shocky (?spelling) who were the DJ's who did the now fairly famous interviews while she was appearing at the second fret. I bent their ears about the interviews and have very memorable stories from them. All this being said, I have to say it is really neat finally getting to know people on the list. Anyone else going to "fess up". By the way, I am retired from my real job, live in the Cape May New Jersey area and teach at University of Pennsylvania 2 days a week ( I maintain a condo in center city philadelphia).
