Criticize Joni? Hi Trish, and welcome to the JMDL. Don't be shocked by our candid honesty. While the praise for all things Joni far outweighs the scorn, we do from time to time pick on albums, songs, clothes choices, hair styles, smoking, and other stuff. Most of us that post here have been friends for a LONG time. There are some groups that forbid any negativity about the artist and put him/her on an untouchable pedestal. This ain't one of them. This is a discussion list, not a fan club. Tell us more about yourself if you wish and your favorite Joni things. It is my understanding that Joel Bernstein, Joni's long time guitar technician, compiled and produced the book with Joni's imprimatur. Joni has said many times that she depended on Joel to keep an archive of her tunings because she didn't have time or the inclination to cling to old songs past! Although I stand behind some of the tried and true transcriptions on the JM.com site, I believe that there will be more than a couple differences between what we've come up with and what Joel believes is the way Joni played it. Plus I may be pleasantly surprised and find that, oh, maybe Joel got this one right and I'm wrong. I'm OK with that too. It's all a beautiful and fun process and I don't think we will be done soon studying our sublime Queen of Tunings. :-) Susan Tierney McNamara email: sem8@cornell.edu - -----Original Message----- From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Debra Pease Sent: Thursday, February 27, 2014 5:02 PM To: joni Subject: tunings Hi there all I got my Joni tuning book and am seeing the chords a bit different then on the site. I have been working on Harrys House and it is different a little in the book. Also, Edith and the Kingpin is changed a bit too. So, my question is.who did these tunings for the book? Did Joni do them all or did she sign off on it and let some *person*have a go at it. Did she have any input in this book or like Girls like Us, she didnt want this. Sorry if this was asked and answered already.
