Am I remembering that right? Anyway, here's a throwback Retro covers collection, Volume #101. A fun assortment of tunes, quite a few deep tracks, some non-English selections, and one of the WORST Joni covers ever (Terry Duggins' abominable take on "Rainy Night House"). A real rarity (Janet Jones), some repeat performers (bless you) and a cool acapella "River". Truly some wonderful stuff. If you already have it, you know. If you don't, what are you waiting for silly? http://goo.gl/14Cfw1 1. Mads Baerentzen Trio - Trouble Child 2. Sara Gazarek - Carey 3. Dave Hill - Both Sides Now 4. Bob NP: Colored Wolf, "Sunny Sunday" ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Feb 2014 05:27:59 +0000 From: c Karma Subject: re: Song for Sharon question The apple of temptation and the diamond snake. Well, the word "apple" does appear earlier in the song. I had been content to speculate that it was yet another use of visual imagery of duality and original sin which reoccur in her work, echoing the concepts of both "For The Roses" and "Don't Interrupt The Sorrow." The "apple of temptation" might be no more than another reference to New York City, cast in an exotic light for someone (Sharon) who might pine for grand experiences (or a modest wedding) that lie outside their own simpler routine. And yes, I agree with the inference that the "diamond snake" is tethering her to those things she's not ready to give up (just yet).
