McNamara" Subject: RE: Complete songbook 2014 Thanks Vincenzo ... I really am excited to get this book ... ironically the one tab that they show in this example, I HAD A KING, is a song that I play differently ... I always used Jared White's transcription at the JM.com guitar site which is DADEAD Capo 7 ... Mia Ortlieb has it in DADDAD (same generic tuning as the book) capo 7. In her acknowledgements to the book, Joni says "It was Joel's job to tune my guitars, and to do this he needed to learn at least the first eight bars of every one of my songs - therefore preserving these tunings which may have otherwise been lost, for which I am grateful" It's pretty peculiar to me how Joni Mitchell would move so quickly to the next creative project that she wouldn't try to preserve all the tunings, but of course we know, the torrent of her gift was massive, and probably hard to keep up with! Does anyone know when Joel started working as Joni's guitar technician? Was it before she moved to California? If you think about it, any song that was not carried onto her song lists after she started recording albums can be considered "lost tunings." Now we all know that we are talking about up to 25 to 30 songs ... so we still have work to do. :-) Susan Tierney McNamara email: sem8@cornell.edu - -----Original Message----- From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Vincenzo Mancini Sent: Tuesday, January 28, 2014 11:30 AM To: onlyjoni-digest@smoe.org; joni@smoe.org Subject: Complete songbook 2014 A pdf showing some pages can be seen at: http://www.alfred.com/samplepages/00-40964.pdf And apparently the songbook is now available: http://www.alfred.com/Products/Joni-Mitchell-Complete-So-Far--00-40964.aspx http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/cart;jsessionid=01D64B4BD9A614ABEEA52F4D0B3A376 E.atg02?_requestid=570929 Vincenzo ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Jan 2014 21:05:12 +0000 From: joe farrell Subject: re: pete seeger Pete Seeger stayed true to his beliefs and principles throughout his long life.
