I note that Bob says "The entire concert is in circulation and is wonderful". I would love to add it to my Joni collection. Can anyone help? That comes from her appearance at the Spectrum in Philly - 16FEB76. This excerpt from a review: "Joni settled into an enrapturing, intimate (as can be in a cavern) acoustic set that was mesmerizing. Even with a broken string, she continued undaunted: she sang the traditional Yarrow a Capella. She prefaced it with recollections of playing the local coffeehouses; the poignancy of the moment made me remember the nervous, fragile Joni who played her first Philly dates in 1966." So this likely spontaneous performance was probably inspired by a broken string! As far as I know this is the only known recording of Joni singing the tune. This entire concert is in circulation and is wonderful. I just stumbled across this recording of Joni singing an old irish song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIa6WgkEh5g Not great quality. Has anyone heard this before? Or know of a better quality recording? Gah I wish there was a better recording of this though. Her voice sounds warbley. I'll have to look up the story of this sad tune of Yarrow tea. Side note: it's really odd that I just now found this. I've been reading about Yarrow tea for the past week! She owes me a coke! - - Shari > On Jan 3, 2014, at 4:59 AM, Bob.Muller@Fluor.com wrote: > > Hi Shari - ain't that recording just the neatest thing? > > That comes from her appearance at the Spectrum in Philly - 16FEB76. > > This excerpt from a review: > > "Joni settled into an enrapturing, intimate (as can be in a cavern) acoustic set that was mesmerizing. I have previewed most of the new forthcoming record and very excited about it. My father had Alzheimer's and the whole subject matter was a close to home thing for me. Jonatha went thru the same thing with her mom and she made a play about it. Check it out. Jonatha is living in NYC now with her husband Pat and they previewed the play last month in Minneapolis. I am hoping that my stars align to be able to go check it out. See info below. Love Paz P.S. I copied and pasted the web URL stuff cause I think SMOE does not allow for the direct links.
