I remember a few people commented on that book when it came out, I was very excited when I heard about it, since I'm a big Neil fan (he's second only to Joni in my list) and love autobiographies of all kinds. but I must say it's not the best autobiography ever written... it not so very well written, not always coherent, and simply boring in some of the chapters (to me at least), but I did enjoy parts of it. about the Joni mentions, there are a few short ones, the interesting one is about the "raised on robbery" take that was just discussed. I was a little surprised (and disappointed) that he didn't say anything personal about Joni, because he was speaking there on many of his friends/fellow musicians, always saying how much he loves and appreciates them and how much they mean to him, he even said something like that on Dylan! but nothing on Joni, and I was always under the impression that they were good friends... was I wrong? As you know, this was a from a performance at the Sunset Club in Paris accompanied by her husband Alex on electric guitar. Its a terrific performance as listers can see from the video link below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeAboND09f0 - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This e-mail message (including attachments, if any) is intended for the use of the individual or entity to which it is addressed and may contain information that is privileged, proprietary , confidential and exempt from disclosure. Neil's narrative made me think of a very dear friend also a hige music slut as I felt like my friend Harlan was talking to me. I also love that he is after the record companies and online sharing sites to keep the quality of the music at a high standard. Puretone! Yea yea yea!! Wading through posts since Christmas and I see you have read Waging Heavy Peace. Clearly if it has Joni references it is worth $7!!! :-) Susan Tierney McNamara email: sem8@cornell.edu - -----Original Message----- As for me, I noted in Neil Young's "Waging Heavy Peace" that he has an unreleased tape of a tipsy Joni Mitchell singing "Raised on Robbery" which he described as being a very sexy version - and that she won't allow the release. If Neil subscribes to this, I would say to him that I would pay to listen to that tape. It will be just between us. And perhaps a few JMDLers. Best wishes for 2014 to all. That was a great, great show and it showcased a bunch of stuff that she feels is under appreciated. I think all of us have it already, but I'm saying it would be a worthy addition to the Catalog.
