Now I can continue to scour ebay to see if I can find another one!!! :-) I also think that Rainy Night House on MOA is stellar. So many layers of goodness. :-) Susan Tierney McNamara email: sem8@cornell.edu - -----Original Message----- From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org] On Behalf Of DearMusic DJockey Sent: Thursday, November 07, 2013 1:27 PM To: joni@smoe.org; Susan E. McNamara Subject: Happy birthday Joni Mitchell Dear JMDL listers Even with all the recognition, admiration and respect she enjoys from critics and the public, even with the remarkable commercial success, even with the hordes of musicians that she has profoundly influenced, even with the inummerable covers of her work and even with the hardcore fans who worship her, she is still not yet rated enough for the talent in the creation of music and lyrics and for the new frontiers she has pushed and innovations she has pioneered in her field. And she will never be, although her artistic image and impact will never stop growing. Many of her fans come up with Hejira [1976] as their best album choice. I vote for the Hissing of Summer Lawns [1975], even though I change mind from time to time, as every album [including the live ones] especially up to 1982, is a jem for its own genuinity and quality. For the shake of a remark only [there is no such thing as a favorite JM song for me], for some time now I go for the rentition of Rainy Night House from Miles of Aisles. Joni Mitchell, being discerning, upfront, disengaged and calmly outspoken, has stirred controversy over various statements extracted out of context from interviews, to which she answers that she better be considered arrogant but sincere, than be a fake humble. LONG LIVE JONI MITCHELL! Dear Music DJ A long time Joni Mitchell fan PS. Thanks to Sue and everybody else for the great birthday card. By the way Sue, If you ask me, I adhere to your decision to keep the music box. It makes much more sence. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 8 Nov 2013 11:34:48 -0800 From: Shari Eaton Subject: Joni on her birthday. She looks great! Love the jacket.
