By compositions I meant words and music. I think those may endure longer than Joni as a singer or guitarist in the cultural memory (what little we have anymore!) And Laurie, many thanks for checking out our Safaris to the Heart CD. Half of it was recorded live at SoCal JoniFest 2009. Those two inspired me, and then the jazz thing kicked in when I was about 16 or 17, but prior to that, I was in love with Neil and Joni and couldn't get enough. I was obsessed with them. Revisiting Joni's music has been very intense, actually, since I have been a hard core jazz musician for 35 years. The music of Joni and Neil have been running underneath all that jazz and when it resurfaced it was like an old friend you hadn't seen in a long time -- and the conversation continued right where you left off.
