I recently UpLoaded -7- Misc. Songs via Hightail. They can be DownLoaded at @ Once again it's a zip.file. Once you've DownLoaded the file, you'll have a folder containing -7- songs. Here's the list: - - - - - - 1. SUGAR BABY.mp4 -- this is a Video Performance from "The Harry Smith Project - Anthology of American Folk Music REVISITED" recorded April 26, 2001 2. SUGAR BABY 3. YOU'RE GONNA NEED SOMEBODY ON YOUR BOND (Kate sings the Blues) I recorded both of these at "The Bottom Line - NYC" on Feb. 15, 2003. The next -2- songs do not appear on any of Kate & Anna's albums 4. PETITE ANNOUNCE AMOUREUSE From a CD Anthology titled "BITTERSWEET CANADA: Songs of The New Depression" Recorded in April 1992 5. BALLAD FOR LITTLE JO (End Title) -- from the SoundTrack of the film "The Ballad of Little Jo" Recorded 1993 6. COOL RIVER -- Maria Muldaur This song is from Maria's 2nd solo album, and features 'The Sisters' on harmony vocals. THIS song is the first time I actually heard 'The Sisters'. It was written by Anna. Maria had already recorded one of Kate's songs (The Work Song) on her first album. Kate & Anna's first recording contract was a direct result of a series of Demo recordings made during the sessions for this album, Maria's "Waitress In A Donut Shop" LP. 7. COOL RIVER -- Anna McGarrigle -- from "The McGarrigle Hour" CD Here's what Jane McGarrigle says in the CD liner notes. For the last twenty-five years Kate & I thought this song was about the suicide by drowning of a neighbor in St. Sauveur. We only found out from Anna, at the time of this writing, that it's not about that at all. We were just crushed -- it made such a good story. But here's something that is true. Back in 1974 Joe Boyd was producing Maria Muldaur's second record WAITRESS IN A DONUT SHOP. Under the impression that Kate had written "Cool River," Joe flew her to Los Angeles to play a piano track on the song. When he found out Anna ("You mean there's another one?") had written it with her friend Audrey Bean, he flew Anna out to California and they both did backing vocals on Maria's record. While there was tape running, Kate and Anna put down some of their songs and voila! A Career Was Born. - - - - - Listening to this song, I think I know how Anna feels. I feel that way too. Kate's passing is truly depressing. A little light went out of my life. At least we still have the music. andmoreagain, - - - - - - - - - - simonM ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Sep 2013 23:22:59 -0600 (MDT) From: est86mlm@ameritech.net Subject: New Video added to Library: Interview: Graham Nash Title: Interview: Graham Nash Greater Boston - WGBH 2013-9-18 Graham Nash talks to Emily Rooney of Greater Boston about his new memoir Wild Tales: A Rock & Roll Life.

The three women not only sang the songs but did intros to each song with a little background about what was going on in the artists life ... before the show I told my friend I came with (who did not know a lot about Joni but was a big Laura Nyro fan) the story of Joni and Kilauren, and then they sang Little Green ... after the show my friend said she was so glad I told her the story because the song really blew her away. The best part was the harmonies, beautiful! The singers were: Melissa Hammans, Shaleah Adkisson, and Maddy Wyatt. Subject: Re: A Melody In Your Name/The Pink Nun Hi Sue, Here is my guess on this. We know that Joni played a lot of gigs at the Second Fret in Philadelphia, and I think it was around the time she wrote that song, and I often wonder if during the time she was in that city, she ever visited or heard about the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters, an Order located in Philadelphia. They are often referred to as the "Pink Sisters" because they wear a pink habit. Here is their website: http://www.adorationsisters.org/ I wonder if that is where her "pink nun" came from? Best regards, Gary Z. Detroit P.S. I'm weird, but I LOVE nuns and have learned about many of them over the years!! Susan E. To me, at the time, the song sounded like a psychedelic/hippy song, so the pink nun was just one of those drug-induced, Alice-in-Wonderland type of things. Looking back on it now, as an old fart, I wonder if there's a correlation between the Pink Nun and Blue Nun wine? Wasn't that the German wine Joni used to drink? And then again, maybe it was a name she made up for someone she knew. My kids and I always make up names for people we see a lot of but don't know - there's Mr. Starey, and the White Witch and Mr Grouchy and so on. But, as I've already said, when I don't know answers to things, I just make stuff up. There's probably a real explanation for this! On 2013-09-28, at 12:39 PM, Susan E. I played it alot back in the day and I cannot believe it still plays!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiXCD44t7bQ Anyways, this is how I know this song, with all it's harmony's, and was surprised to hear the version of it when watching the film, O Brother, Where Art Thou? and even bought the soundrack of this movie (alot of good music on it) Somewhere in recent years, looking up music on YouTube, I ran across another version of Man of Constant Sorrow and was shocked at how different it was from the Peter, Paul & Mary I was so familiar with. I wouldn't have even recognized it if not for the lyrics. This is all very enlightening, Simon.
