Not a bad little clip, but I'd hate to have to sum up Joni's career in 3 minutes. Bob Sent from my iPhone On Aug 30, 2013, at 3:23 PM, "Susan E. It turns out to be the luxury Hazelton Hotel that now occupies that space. In the photo at the top of this blog you can see part of the sign close to the bottom of the photo, about a third of the way from the left, just to the left of the couple walking down the street: http://spacing.ca/toronto/2009/06/25/throwback-thursday-yorkville-and-the-death-of-torontos-first-scene/ At the bottom of this article by Nicholas Jennings are some photos, and the third is a line-up of people waiting to get into the Riverboat: http://heritageyorkville.tripod.com/saveyorkville/id6.html Here's a video of the unveiling of a heritage plaque for the Riverboat. Beginning around 3:12, Nicholas Jennings speaks and says, "There was music spilling out into the street from every doorway, just as Joni Mitchell sang in her song, "Night in the City". She was referring to Yorkville." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4afqyKYYfg And here is the plaque that was unveiled in the video above, with the wording on the plaque: http://www.torontohistory.org/Pages_PQR/Riverboat.html I've been down the street many times, and have never even see the plaque, so I'll be sure to look for it the next time I'm there. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Aug 2013 21:57:00 -0400 From: Bob Muller Subject: Re: Riverboat heritage site plaque and Joni mentions Very cool, Catherine, I appreciate all of that.
