Betsy ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2013 14:41:47 -0400 From: Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Subject: RE: This simple line I've always loved loved this one - the addition of the word "somewhat" speaks to the honesty of the request, but this one is also a great example of where her writing skills and vocal skills dovetail into a moment of pure brilliance: "SEND ME SOMEBODY", she sings to the heavens, strong and clear, pauses "Who's strong" - qualifying her first general request - a bit - with a voice not quite as demonstrative "and somewhat sincere" - compromising and accepting the reality, lyrically and vocally, much like that phrase in "Down To You"..."you settle for less than fascination, a few drinks later you're not so choosy". I suppose there's also a matter of alliteration involved in that line: Send somebody strong somewhat sincere... Brilliance. Sheer brilliance.
