Ken Maybe we should found JMDLtown or museum or something. I can't imagine anywhere in the world where people would be more knowledgeable or respectful of Joni's stuff and be more than keen to share it with the world. Anita (feeling very enthusiastic and in love with y'all) Agreed - it should be a wing of the JMDL Old Folks home that we'll move to when we retire so we can all be together. The Jonifest that never ends. Catherine, you're already there so start scouting out locations. Bob I SO remember ten years ago (at the end of this month) that first trip to Full Moon, hearing somebody say at lunch "Don't interrupt the sorrow" and it felt like fifty voices coming in unison 'Darn Right' - and the whole Sugarpants thing. I was blown away. Imagine spending your declining years in the JMDL Home tottering by on the Zimmer frame hearing folk humming "Dawntreader'. And can you imagine the local old folks entertainers coming in and they as us for requests and we ask for Hejira. They don't know it but DO know Black Crow' And then they have a go at it and we could complain if they played it in standard tuning instead of dropping into that Bb tuning. Bob, we could say 'Remember Kay Ashley playing it at Full Moon, 2003?' Brilliant! Expected- the Mendel catalogue Unexpected- 8 signed copies of the Wild Things Run Fast cover. I entered a competition ( you had to drive to special record shops that had the single which had the question on it so that I could enter). I sent in about twenty applications, I am ashamed to say, in different names, but I struck gold. I kept one and gave the rest to Joni fans I met along the way. My fellow Joni guitar friend, Peter Carney, did exactly the same but scored a lowly six. Anita On 17 Jul 2013, at 00:30, Bob Muller wrote: > Miguel - what a great story. Actually, this is very cool and I totally get it like everyone else here. I've gotten so much Joni stuff in the mail it's hard to single out 1 or 2. Near the top of my "expected" list would be the special extended edition of the never-released Reprise "A Case Of Joni" cd with the Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, lindsey Buckingham, Etta James, etc. Joni covers. I won it on ebay, lucky for me I didn't have to pay my full bid which was outrageous, but what a thrill when my holy grail showed up in the mail. Unexpected - The card from Pearl containing the photos of Joni and me from Atlanta. The painting of Joni that John Calimee did. Sidebar: Recently there was an article about the Government tracking all the mail we send and receive...not reading it, just tracking where it's coming from and where it's going. Mrs. SCJoniguy laughed and said "Ha! I wonder what they think about YOU?" I have been using the VG-99 for a long time now and my VG-8 is put away and the patches I have are stored on a disc in a sys ex prog in one of my old keyboards. So it would be a process to do. Do you have a VG-8? I know she used several different sounds when she used it but not all strat sounds. Some acoustic and some with some serious effects on them. Check out the recording from Jazz Fest New Orleans. If you remind me in mid august I will pull the old toys out of moth balls and get that info for you. The only thing I know about it is what she referred to it as "a kind of strat sound." Anyone know what kind of strat? These are questions I've been wondering for a while. Right now I'm trying to see if I can check out a VG-99 sometime soon and see if i can duplicate the sound myself. I've been blind since birth, people tell me I'm really in tune with sound so I bet if I saw a VG-99 I could find out which sound it is by ear. Thanks, and btw if any of you have any recordings of her using the VG-8 they'd be great to hear. - -- Josh ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Jul 2013 13:17:14 -0400 From: Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Subject: Re: Saskatoon group Joni stuff We'd have rocking chairs, and each of us would rock our share...just a dream some of us had.
