I am 63 and was born in the Haight/Ashbury in 1950. I was and always be an original Haight born hippie. Joni looked and acted like a poster child for our movement. She is like the archetypical hippie Goddess musician. I also noticed she is a Scorpio! So looking forward to the best that is yet to come from this angel. Welcome to you! We have all chatted away for years and years about Joni's music, but this does, at least to me, feel a very special time. There's a lot of Life around here :~) I have just been viewing last night's rendition of 'Woodstock' where Joni is singing with all the artists at the Tribute in Toronto. I thought to myself that it seemed SO different from when I saw Joni sing it in London in 1970 and more latterly in Paris in 1983 and Edmonton in '94. I wondered what it was that was going on for me. When Joni moved to the guitar rendition that I first saw in '83, it felt really sparse. There was a darkness and cynicism and sadness to the song. Last night's version was just the opposite. There was a dance and a celebration. I saw a woman who seemed in a very different place. I can't quite find the words and maybe shy away from yours of her being 'extraterrestrial' and even 'spiritual'. But, Truth is, at least from where I sit, something powerful was going on there last night and it felt a bit like a prayer, Anita x On 19/06/2013, James Lacy wrote: > Hi folks, > > I am new to Joni's site and would like to know if anyone agrees with me that > she is extraterrestrial like beautiful and perhaps more so than any > spiritual living female singer in history? > I am 63 and was born in the Haight/Ashbury in 1950.
