Perhaps this will work. I have been trying to chime in at this exciting time but each entry I send bounces back. I looked back at when I first connected to this list and seems this is a different address to send to? I wrote this email a couple days ago and now tonight is the second show. Thank you to everyone who has sent pictures, stories, media and more. I love it!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ June 17 Hey Folks I signed up to this list after meeting Joni last fall at Ruby Lake. I have been thrilled with the insights and fun facts, the links and stories and I read 'almost' everything that comes in :) I have been a dedicated Joni fan from my first LP purchased (Blue) in the mid 80's. (I was born in '68) After that I got my hands on everything and then again on CD. As a singer/songwriter myself..Joni is by far the queen of melody and lyric. No one even comes close in my eyes .... or heart. This past couple weeks have been so rich and I just love the interview with Jian. He did a fantastic job of nurturing along one of my most favourite interviews to date. I only wish I could be in TO for the shows at Massey Hall. I am from that part of the word but currently live in beautiful Vancouver. So I will keep reading and watching from afar. Thank you for all the updates and being such a thoughtful and resourceful group of fans. On another note: I was recently gifted 2 Joni prints. One is an artist proof of the Turbulent Indigo cover. I am very curious of the value of this print and thought perhaps one of you might know.....or know where I could get info on the value of her prints.... the number of artist proofs? If you have info and/or would like to connect via real email (outside of the list) you can find me here dthesinger@gmail.com Crossing my fingers that the Ruby Lake event actually does happen again. Giorgio was ecstatic that Joni mentions this event in the NY Times interview. She notes it as a great "scene" in her life. She must have truly enjoyed herself and knowing that we brought her some "real" joy.... is a true blessing. Perhaps this is a sign that it will be annual celebration. An opportunity to experience a magical evening with one of the finest and wisest!!! I am thrilled that this group shares so much and cares so deeply. Happy to be part of it. I am so busy booking and managing my career (both solo and my swing band) being a mom and trying to have a wee income as well. I'm sure I won't have much time to write often but I wanted to thank you for the warm welcome, for some of you finding me on FaceBook and LIKEing my fan page.... etc. I sense that this is a group of music lover who really appreciate the singer songwriter. I'm not a very prolific songwriter and feel more like the vehicle of my songs than anything. The solo CD I created (with some of Canada's finest acoustic musicians)...was one of the most magical journeys I have ever embarked on. Now that I am writing and performing my original songs live again... perhaps another CD will surface someday. Joni continues to inspire me and meeting her really shifted something inside. I feel a new sense of confidence, a spiritual lift. Like there is something much bigger going on than any of us can explain. I did write a little lyrical bit in my card to her. "If we accept suffering, as the seeds of awakening. We grow ~ we ripen. We feast on the harvest of Love's desire. Love deepens" dk May this season of harvest and gratitude deepen your love, so that you may focus on all that is good in your life. I'm happy for you that you were able to go to Ruby Lake, and that you've joined this discussion list. You live in a beautiful part of the world. I live in Toronto but was in BC on a visit a few years ago and I think I could be very happy living there. As others have said, a lot of us have been on this discussion list for quite a while, so we do get into talking about just about anything (including Joni!) and not always in flattering tones, although you will notice that the discussion goes back and forth with different opinions or different takes and sometimes there's a balance. And we do sometimes get into discussions about her voice, aging and so on. Unfortunately, we all age. I find that I don't always notice my own aging until I see a photo of myself and cringe but that it's so much easier to notice the changes in people we haven't seen for a while and maybe it's just a reminder of our own mortality (but that it shouldn't come as any great surprise) when we notice that Joni too is aging. >________________________________ > From: Deanna Knight >To: joni@smoe.org >Sent: Thursday, October 4, 2012 1:59:00 PM >Subject: RE: JMDL Digest V2012 #1517 - my Ruby Lake story > >Hello Folks >I am new to this list but not new to Joni and her magical musical journey. >As a artist myself, she is by far my biggest inspiration and cherished >songwriter. - - ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2012 #1537 ****************************** - - ------- To post messages to the list, sendtojoni@smoe.org. The man sitting between them is Kenny Hotz, who is a comedian, producer, etc. I understand he used to date Kilauren. Maybe they're back together? It's interesting because, as a comedian, he is often extremely vulgar (and yet, often, at the same time, funny as hell, although he does cross the line frequently) and yet he seemed very subdued and gentlemanly last night. You can find info about him on wikipedia and by doing google searches, but I'm not sure how much of the information is true and how much is made up, because I'm fairly sure he writes it all himself, so it may not be completely objective! Sue Tierney and I got into the after-party as reps of JoniMitchell.com (Yay, Les!). Patti Parlette and Jody Johnson also got in through Lisa Sornberger, editor of the book "Gathered Light", which features essays by many, including our own Patti P and Richard Flynn. Joni didn't show, unfortunately, although we all four lived in hope. As the crowd was thinning, and as we were talking to Rufus, Jorn Weisbrod (artistic director of Luminato and husband of Rufus) came over and told Rufus that he was "going up to see Joni," and, at this point, we realized she wasn't going to attend the party. If she came down afterwards (once the crowd was gone), then I don't even want to know about it! Kilauren and her children were there at the party, as was Brad McMath, and Kenny Hotz. I didn't approach any of them because we were really more interested in talking to people about the music and couldn't think of anything to say to Kilauren et al, since we couldn't think of anything that probably wouldn't be at least slightly inappropriate. We did amuse ourselves with thinking up a lot of very inappropriate questions that we would never dream of asking our own worst enemies, much less la famille de Joni. On the other hand, I really wanted to go up to Kenny Hotz, if only to check that it was really him and not just some guy that looks a lot like him, because my son is a fan and it would have been great to get a picture with him for that reason alone. But, he was busy talking to others, and I didn't want to interrupt. Sue and I did speak to Liam Titcomb, one of the singer/performers, and to members of the band, including Marvin Sewell (guitar), Jon Cowherd (keyboards). We also spoke briefly to Rufus Wainwright. I'm going to leave it to Sue to give you the scoop on the "interviews", since she was the one who did most of the work there, and a good thing too, because I had difficulty hearing, due to there being so many people at the time. >________________________________ > From: Marianne Rizzo >To: joni list >Sent: Wednesday, June 19, 2013 11:56:40 AM >Subject: Massey Tribute, photos on Flickr > > >JOni weeks, > >the tribute > > > >wow . . there is so much to take in, so much to say > >so much converging in all of these events, the interviews . . . the tributes >. . the pictures, the music . . . > >the sentiments. . > > > >thank you everyone for putting us as close as you could to all of it. > > > > > >Catherine, your pictures are wonderful > >Is that Kilauren sitting next her one seat over? > > > > > >Who is the man person? > >Who else in her family was there? > >Who else is next to her? > > > >amazing how you captured that photo of her with the blue hue. > >You really did an amazing job catherine, thank you. . > >and thanks to all who write and tell us all you experienced. > > > >still busy at school but just wanted to say that i am with you all in >spirit. > > > >Is there another performance tonight? > >Are you all going? > > > >if you can just tell us every little thing, it will be much appreciated > > > >catherine, You had many blessings > >you were positioned where you could see joni that well? > >wow!!!!!!!! > > > >Marianne > > >---------------------------------------------------------------------- > >Date: Wed, 19 Jun 2013 07:59:19 -0700 (PDT) >From: Catherine McKay >Subject: Massey Tribute, photos on Flickr > >I hope this link works and doesn't ask you for a password.
