Well, The Voice, Australia has posted their own clip of Celia Pavey performing Woodstock. Celia is only 19 and has the potential to bring about a folk revival in this country. She has open the ears and minds of Australians to the beauty and purity of a good, clean folk song. Her voice is incredible and her love for the genre, comes through. This is an absolute tribute to Joni's work. If you purchase a song on iTunes, it counts as two votes. It reached the top 10 on iTunes. I have sent it to Bob for future inclusion on his covers collections. In the meantime, here's the link for YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glIMgL3XRvw Mark in blustery, rainy Sydney. NP Woodstock - Celia Pavey ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Jun 2013 05:42:40 -0700 (PDT) From: Bob Muller Subject: Joni Covers 168 - Covers are bustin' out all over Hey all, so here we are at June already...kind of hard to believe actually. Time for swimming, vacations, cookouts and of course Joni covers which know no season. Here's a new batch for you - volume 168, chock full of nuggets; Carey in Czech, Chelsea Morning in Finnish, and one of my favorite BYT's ever. Sarah McKenzie from Australia turns in an airy jazzy nearly 7-minute track that will make you take notice. A rare cover of A Strange Boy (not that the recording is rare but rather it's rare that this one gets covered), and a bunch of the usual suspects. Step right up: http://goo.gl/WwxvU 1. Sarah McKenzie - Big Yellow Taxi 2. Chiara Minaldi - River 3. Anki Lindquist - Kaupungin Aamu (Chelsea Morning - Finnish) 4. Jeremy Hopkins - Sunny Sunday 5. Karmen Suter - - Both Sides Now 6. Carol Mulligan - The Circle Game 7. Celeste Alias - Big Yellow Taxi 8. Eugene Wolf - Woodstock 9. Marlies & Fingerpain - River 10. Jaye Evans & Louis Cooper - Little Green 11. Acoustic Edge - Both Sides Now 12. Tommy Homonym - A Strange Boy 13. The Tony Chappell Orchestra - Big Yellow Taxi 14. Hannah Marie - Woodstock 15. Andie Hight - River 16. Marsys - - Carey 17. Summit Band - A Case Of You 18. Lara Eidi - Both Sides Now 19. Hyannis Sound - Big Yellow Taxi 20. Natalie Cressman & Secret Garden - Goodbye Pork Pie Hat 20 tracks, 20 hits - enjoy! He has the purest and clear voice on "Sunny Sunday", and such a soft guitar, I just could listen to this man sing anything. He's fantastic.> Thanks Jimmy - I neglected to mention that one so thanks for the shout out on it. It's a deep track in itself and his playing and singing is very pure and heartfelt. Definitely one of the highlights. Since she produced her albums, I would suspect she had a big hand in keeping things moving along in positive directions for the music. I love that a microphone, #8, was reserved for her vocals.
