Anyone read the Canadian magazine called Flare? Supposedly Joni was included in their "fashion icons" feature recently. Would love a copy (digital ok) if the content is worthy of inclusion on the website. Thanks! Les ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 May 2013 10:13:05 -0400 From: Gerald Kent Subject: Jonathan Schwartz I rarely post anything here because I think there is way too much bias. That being said, this may have been posted before but I will do it again in the event it has not. If you have an interest in traditional American music (standards, broadway musicals, etc.) treat yourself to listening to a Jonathan Schwartz show. He is broadcast on satellite radio everyday at 12 Noon on the station "40's on 4". He has on several occasions played Joni, usually from her standards selections. The other day, sandwiched between Frank Sinatra and Count Basie, came Joni's "Rainy Night House". It may seem absorbed but it fit perfectly. Anyway, he always speaks very highly of her but even if he did not have this joni connection his show would still be worth a listen. Peace! I know the magazine of which you speak :-) I'll pick one up next time I'm out. Do you know which issue? As a point of interest (unless it brings on complete ennui), Flare used to be called Miss Chatelaine. There was Chatelaine that was aimed at older (over 30 maybe?), usually married women, (still exists under that name), and then there was Miss Chatelaine that was aimed at teens and 20s. I guess Miss Chatelaine sounded too old-school and prissy, so they changed the name to Flare in the late 70s or early 80s. Kilauren Gibb modelled for Chatelaine. K d lang's song "Miss Chatelaine" is apparently about her having been given a woman of the year award. >________________________________ > From: Les Irvin >To: Joni List >Sent: Friday, May 17, 2013 3:18:17 PM >Subject: Flare Magazine... > > >Anyone read the Canadian magazine called Flare? I kinda think it might be this one, which looks like a "special" edition and not their regular monthly thing. Too bad they don't give any more info as to what's inside. There is a book store across the street from me, so I'll see if they have the hard copy there before laying my money down. http://www.rogerspublishingestore.com/product/magazines/flare/cat60104/flare-canadian-fashion-icons/si6358552 >________________________________ > From: Les Irvin >To: Joni List >Sent: Friday, May 17, 2013 3:18:17 PM >Subject: Flare Magazine... > > >Anyone read the Canadian magazine called Flare?
