Like Dave & Paz have mentioned, Pedro Aznar is so great, and was with Pat Matheny for years. His performance on "Amelia" was my favorite of the bunch. You can tell his bass playing was heavily influenced by Jaco. You know how much I love Joni's songs sung in a Non-English language, and Paul Bergman's River is fantasic. I still don't know who the singer is, and still can't figure out what "Feart" means. When I google it, I come up with the Scottish transalation of "afraid". I also liked laidbook's BYT. It's very electronic pop, but quite different. Not a bad song in the bunch. Thanks for all you do! In addition to the birthday tribute to Joni at Luminato, I'm also going to be going to this one. Anyone else doing this one too? In any case, I'll report back. http://luminatofestival.com/events/2013/timestalks-luminato-multi-artist-appreciateion-jon TimesTalks Luminato - A multi-artist appreciation of Joni Mitchell With Jon Pareles When Joni: A Portrair in Song - A Birthday Happening Live at Massey Hall arrives at the Luminato Festival, it will bring together a remarkable assortment of musicians with roots in jazz, rock, folk and pop. But they share a common thread: a monumental respect for, and musical debt to, their celebrant, Joni Mitchell. Prior to the two Massey Hall concerts, an assortment of participating artists will joinThe New York Times's chief pop music critic, Jon Pareles, to discuss Mitchell's prowess across multiple genres, her skills as both a composer and lyricist, and her role in the evolution of late 20th-century music. ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2013 #151 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here:mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe
