We already planned a Blue encore. Thanks for your interest. You have a good point. As we speak we've been asked to play a couple of songs for a local TV show on Sunday as a preview for our show. It could be fun! I guess I was approaching this from the perspective of a professional write, which I have been for 36 years. As a writer, you must assume that there will be new readers to each article who did not read previous articles, so they would not know any of this information you or Bob have mentioned about previous concerts, but the writer omitted. I was not suggesting that the Mutts add a song from Blue, only that the writer should have acknowledged that the Mutts already had covered Blue. Otherwise, the fresh reader who is at least superficially familiar with Joni's music and career path would wonder why the writer did not mention Blue among Joni's "pre-Court & Spark era -- namely Song to a Seagull, Clouds,Ladies of the Canyon and For The Roses -- Paul Ivice ;>) From: Robin Adler The writer attended our Blue and Court and Spark concert and wrote a preview and review about it. Since we've been performing Joni's music in San Diego for 8 years and have had several write ups it's not a new news when we do a show. What's new is that every time we do a show it's new material. So, most of the people that follow us know that. But I see what you mean Paul. Dave thought we should have thrown in some songs from Blue but I made the decision to do all new material. Having said that, if we get an encore we may do one of the gems from "Blue". Sounds like Joni, bigtime SONG TITLE: Green Leaves ARTIST: Colleen Brown w Dead Red Pine I just heard these two Edmonton-based performers together on CKUA Radio (ckua.org to listen) but haven't found a Youtube clip to post. Can't think of anyone other than Joni who sounds more like Joni to me than Colleen Brown in this song. Am I late to this party? Have you all heard of her before? Kate - - b?b 1b.b?b 1b.b?b 1b. The L.A/San Diego JMDL chapter are slated to be there next Saturday so the moles will be embedded. Expect leaked documents. Regarding piano charts, Sue, Tea Leaf Prohecy and Willie are two that I haven't done so those charts were someone else's work. The list of Joni piano pieces remaining to be transcribed has become quite small now so in the coming months I hope to close the gap and finish the project. If anyone wants to see what a quirky composer Joni was I'd urge them to take a look at the chart for Lesson in Survival and look at the time signatures! Not an easy song to play or sing rhythmically. You don't realize till you scrutinize this music how special it is, and WAS, in 1972. cheers, all Dave On Mar 29, 2013, at 12:00 PM, "Susan E. I think, which will sound obvious to everyone on this list, that a Joni Mitchell fan is not ambivalent about the music, and when musicians stretch to perform her work, people come out of the woodwork to watch. After 8 years of 4 standing room only open mics, and 4 full length sold-out evenings at the Community Music center here in Ithaca, it is clear to me that not only are Joni fans attentive and appreciative, they are of very high-calibre in taste and smarts. :-) I applaud all the hard work Dave and Robin put into these events ... and I just have to say again Dave, that every piano player at the Joni Mitchell Tribute here in Ithaca was reading your sheets when they were playing. Some of the piano songs included Tea Leaf Prophecy, Willie, My Old Man, See You Sometime, and Blue. I wish I could ride my magic carpet and be there next Friday!!! Good lu! > ck! But when the writer omits Blue from a list of "the pre-Court & Spark era" without explanation, one could infer that the writer was not aware. It would have been a good opportunity to mention that there will be no Blue in this concert because the Mutts had already been there, done that..
