Nice work, David - you're dead on with 1/3/4. Joni was born in Fort McLeod, Alberta in November of 1943. She moved to Maidstone and North Battleford later. The Beginning of Survival, complete with the GHOUL HAND on the cover was released in July of 2004. Dreamland was released in September of the same year. Both are superfluous, though that is just my opinion. Joni and John Guerin also wrote a song called "Just Couldn't Help Myself" that was recorded by O.C. Smith (of Little Green Apples fame). To hear it, you'd NEVER guess that Joni had anything to do with it, musically or lyrically. I didn't expect anyone to come up with that so you can hold your head high my friend! Have to grade this one on a curve so you get a big A. Bob From: "David J. Here's a story that I will share, hopefully it means something to some of you. Waaaaaay back when, when I started my Covers project, I googled song titles (search capabilities weren't near where they are now) and when I entered "You Turn Me On I'm A Radio" I got a hit on an obscure LP from a Hamburg singer named Magret Wessel who did a version. I entered the track into the database, put it into my ebay "saved searches, and from time to time searched for a copy of the record. Never any luck. So... Today when I get home, there's an email from Magret and she sent me a copy of the recording, transferred from vinyl to digital. Her note is so sweet I just can't keep it to myself: "Dearest Joni and friends of Joni Mitchell, I am a german female singer. By chance I found my name on the Joni Mitchell Website for Undercover Singers - and I was very surprised and feel honored! I send you the Titel 'Turn me On' from the Old LP from Country Castle. It was a recording from Live-Gig. Unfortunately there's no digitally recording at all - only the analog recording from the LP from 1977. Maybe it is not very good - but I was so proud to sing Joni Songs, my favourite singer for my life. I hope you enjoy it a little. Thanks and My best wishes yours grateful Magret Wessel" Made my day. Never give up.
