Subject: Mad for Joni again!

Hey!
I was on the list for what seems a life time ago (my email might have been
amelio747), but now I'm back. I'm currently out of work and just got back
into Joni after such a long absence (been listening to other greats like
Dory Previn, Elliott Smith and Dylan), so now seems a good time to rejoin.
I've downloaded a load of her stuff, as all my Joni CD's (I had all of
them) were thrown away by a careless family member many moons ago.

Wow is all I can say. I feel like I'm listening to Joni for the first time
and with a more adult perspective.

Dog Eat Dog: Is this supposed to be a parody? She's criticizing the yuppie
80s lot whilst using some of their music. I meqn come on, the horn solo in
'Lucky Girl'. It makes me want to laugh and cry all at once. I have some
really good quality mp3's of this album and the difference is astounding.
What a misunderstood album. I will have to blog this.

'The Sire of Sorrow' (Travelogue version): My god this song is comforting.
Why did everyone go nuts over her Both Sides Album, when Travelogue is a
far more interesting piece?

Turbulent Indigo: okay so I get this much more now I am older. The chords
on 'The Magdalene Laundries' are beautiful and I even like 'Yvette in
English' and 'Last Chance Lost' second time around. I really must have
grown up.

The Hissing of Summer Lawns: still my favourite.
Wild Things Run Fast: still my least.

Yes, she does.  I haven't
followed this thread closely, but a couple posts seemed to imply that Joni
doesn't care about such shallow things, but the pictorial record shows
otherwise (which I personally have no problem with whatsoever).
