I agree 100%. I'll add that to my ears it sounds like Sutton Sorenson's "Carey" was inspired by Cyndi Lauper's version. Had you left off the Camp Nawaka girls singing the Circle Game, I would have said it was one of the best. Sutton Sorenson's voice on "Carey" is fantastic. She's a cross between Alison Krauss and Norah Jones. I remember Victor Saul's NRH at Pazfest, but this studio version is excellent. NRH is one of my favorite Joni songs, and his voice and guitar are stellar. I normally don't like most of the covers of "Twisted", but Rocio Guitard nails this song, which most jazz artist have problems with in my opinion. The trumpet playing from Hakan Hardenberger was so beautiful. BSN never sounded so good as an instrumental. He plays the trumpet so clean and crisp. Kenny Werner, Lisa Hilton, and of course Javier Colon were spectacular. I must say my absolute favorite song on the entire CD is Tonsberg domkirkes jentekor singing BSN. I'm not a big choir fan when it comes to Joni's music, but these Danish kids blew me away. I even asked a friend in Copenhagen if he had heard of them, and he was a big fan. There were so many good artists on this CD, so thanks also to Paul, Allan, and Monica for your contributions. Most of all.....thank you Mr. Muller. If any of you haven't downloaded this CD, you're missing out! Happy weekend everyone! As a zombie, he lives in an airplane at a deserted zombie-occupied airport. He listens to LPs on a record player. A young human girl that he has "rescued" from the other zombies is flipping through his collection of LPs. I spotted Joni's "Mingus" album in the bunch. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jan 2013 00:46:50 -0500 From: jlhommedieu@insight.rr.com Subject: Mingus Today on the radio was a Jazz program and they played Mark Murphy singing goodbye pork pie hat.
