If you are gunning for a great collection of Joni songs, set your sights right here. Thanks to Allan, Paul and Monica for their help! Kenny Werner turns in a great piano jazz I Had A King with lots of improvisational exploration of Joni's melody. Lisa Hilton's last 3 records have featured a Joni cover, here's her latest - always nice. Only ONE River for those of you who need a break from it (like me), and it's from Javier Colon who some of you may remember from The Voice. Victor Saul first covered NRH on Paz' Joni concert recording, and re-recorded it and released it as a studio track. A nice Steely Dannish take on Twisted with a female vocalist who truly makes it her own. Twisted with a twist, if you will. Seems like Little Green covers are always lovely and Julie Reiber's is no exception. I can even tolerate the Camp Nawaka singers Circle Game. All in all, a nice set that has something for everyone. Anyway, give it a test drive and let us know what YOU think. Ready, Aim, Fire: http://tinyurl.com/Covers159 1. Sutton Sorensen - Carey 2. Corey Brunish - Both Sides Now 3. Had you left off the Camp Nawaka girls singing the Circle Game, I would have said it was one of the best. Sutton Sorenson's voice on "Carey" is fantastic. She's a cross between Alison Krauss and Norah Jones. I remember Victor Saul's NRH at Pazfest, but this studio version is excellent. NRH is one of my favorite Joni songs, and his voice and guitar are stellar. I normally don't like most of the covers of "Twisted", but Rocio Guitard nails this song, which most jazz artist have problems with in my opinion. The trumpet playing from Hakan Hardenberger was so beautiful. BSN never sounded so good as an instrumental. He plays the trumpet so clean and crisp. Kenny Werner, Lisa Hilton, and of course Javier Colon were spectacular. I must say my absolute favorite song on the entire CD is Tonsberg domkirkes jentekor singing BSN. I'm not a big choir fan when it comes to Joni's music, but these Danish kids blew me away. I even asked a friend in Copenhagen if he had heard of them, and he was a big fan. There were so many good artists on this CD, so thanks also to Paul, Allan, and Monica for your contributions. Most of all.....thank you Mr. Muller. If any of you haven't downloaded this CD, you're missing out! Happy weekend everyone! "Man from Mars." It is one of the few songs from TTT that I really like, and the intro and first few lines of the song (it faded as Joni sang the words "man from Mars") were absolutely perfect in this very depressing film.
