Good & singable hooks with unexpected turns, deep emotion, utilizes the jungle bells & other Christmas themes & .....she mentions Christmas in it. That melancholia of not being a child anymore at Christmas, or not being home, or in trouble on the love front...that is a universal for many. Holidays are often bittersweet. She just hits all the right chords. GREETINGS FROM THE TRIPLE M Down a gravel road, where the barb wire meets the sky. MARY M. I did but always find I am relieved when it comes to a conclusion. It's like, enough already! :0 Gary I SO understand about Hejira. That is an aptly named record. Im sure at the time it was released, she titled it such, not only after the song, but for the journey (literal and otherwise) on which she found herself. I think the tracks on the album are magic and they evolve new meaning as my own life changes. I guess we could say that about most great art as you pointed out. Art being a participatory endeavor, and happily so. For me Hejira represents perspective and as I mentioned in a previous post, it's like looking in through a window at little paintings hung on a wall...and finding oneself drawn into the painting within the painting. It's lovely! I think Joni found the center on that record...no question! :) Sally Sent from Confunction Junction on my iPhone On Jan 2, 2013, at 12:57 PM, "Gary Hanick" wrote: > Hi Mary -- > > LOL. A friend in my car said I that I said that I sometimes tire of Mitchell - of course she was wrong & had lost her mind or hadn't been paying attention; and I said I never tire of Joni, but I said, sometimes her music is just too emotional & I changed the cd to Lady Gaga.
