I think that TS is not nearly as shallow as many on this list seem to think. Rather than sing others' songs, she essentially struck out on her own at age 14 in order to sing and play only her songs. Her lyrics strike a tremendous emotional chord with her fans (teenage girls/young women), and she is a great role model. She has accomplished everything she could have dreamt of doing musically by age 21 (she's worth $200 million). I have no doubt that if she were to play Joni, she would utilize all of her talents to excel at it, and she would be doing it for the right reasons (reverence for Joni and her legacy, not for the money). ~Dan On Mon, Dec 24, 2012 at 11:05 AM, shadows and light < cloudhidden101@gmail.com> wrote: > with all due respect to those who are rooting for taylor swift, who would > bring joni exposure to her fan base, i hope a trained actress plays joni. > imo, joni deserves this. > hair and cheekbones can be altered, buts joni's expressive face, and body > language speak volumes to me. > On Fri, Dec 21, 2012 at 9:17 AM, Susan Tierney McNamara >wrote: > > > I am also in the camp of hoping that a great actress plays Joni and not > > just someone who might look like her and sings too. I listened to this one yesterday and was really enjoying it. The Miranda Sage is excellent as are most. VERY jazzy, this one. I'm trying to think of who's covered "River" and did a crappy job of it. I especially liked the Heather Ramsey's cover of the song. What a great singer with some cool jazz piano. Karmacoda's River was definitely good and different with the electronic pop style to the song. Silje Neergaard's River was excellent too. I read that she's one of the most sold jazz artist in Norway, and deservedly so. Only 5 BSN's on this CD, but I really liked the sultry voice form Miranda Sage. I'll have to agree with you regarding your distant relative, Liesel Muller. It was like listening to Marlene Dietrich spitting out the words to BSN, bless her aging heart. Jay White actually did a good job with Free Man in Paris. I saw some of his youtube video's and he is a ringer for Neil Diamond in the Vegas circuit. So this old fart wants to THANK YOU for providing me with some more pleasure with your awesome covers.
