I pressed it, had to sign in (with google/gmail) and then it thanked me for the feedback. I wonder who processes those. Videos do get pulled from Youtube, so if there's any logic, that kind of response should work in that direction. - --jussi ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 4 Nov 2012 11:13:57 +0000 From: Raffaele Malanga Subject: River by Skye Sorry if this has been posted already given that the video was uploaded about a year old. Yes, it's another cover of River, but among the hundreds I've heard, this one by Skye Edwards sounds good to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKgj7Pxylv4&feature=plcp ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Nov 2012 21:00:29 -0400 From: kenevans kenevans Subject: The new box I noticed on the website that they had received a copy of the box and that the packaging was cool. It's on the track "Midnight Feast". Midnight Feast She caught me by surprise Bursting into tears Boo hoo I found you on the freeway Shredding the alphabet Listening to the fog banks Joni Mitchell and her parking lot I lost you on the way down Close to Chamonix The ferry took me to dry land Took me to Italy Boo hoo We were passing by a midnight feast But we carried on Since you'd seen Beauty and the Beast You said 'enough' We were passing by a midnight feast You said 'enough' Since you'd seen Beauty and the Beast You said 'enough' Michael F. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 Oct 2012 19:33:59 -0400 From: "Jim L'Hommedieu" Subject: Subject: Joni and Buffy No, you're not off base. I hear it too. I found samples on Amazon for the album you described. Released in 1964, it was called "It's My Way". I bought it yesterday, thinking it's an addition to my Joni library. It just might be a cornerstone of Joni's career. > From: Les Irvin Recently, I bought Buffy Saint-Marie's first album, released in 1964. As Joni's hero, this would have been what Joni was listening to at the time she began writing. For me, it was a revelation hearing this album and for the first time ever, I thought "Aha!" I can hear now what may have influenced Joni's early, mostly unreleased songwriting. More so the guitar playing (Buffy used open tunings) than lyrically, but to me, a distinct influence for Joni - perhaps the only obvious influence. I'd be interested in other's takes on this. Here's a 3-song sampler from Buffy's first album:https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8377478/Buffy1964.zip Thoughts anyone? I was reading through all music and here is the 5 star review of the album. reviewby William Ruhlmann This is one of the most scathing topical folk albums ever made. Sainte-Marie sings in an emotional, vibrato-laden voice of war ("The Universal Soldier," later a hit for Donovan ), drugs ("Cod'ine"), sex ("The Incest Song"), and most telling, the mistreatment of Native Americans, of which Sainte-Marie is one ("Now That the Buffalo's Gone"). *Even decades later, the album's power is moving and disturbing.* peace, Happy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Nov 2012 11:04:31 -0700 From: Lindsay Moon Subject: Joni mention on 30 Rock Did anyone else see 30 Rock last night? Liz & Jack are fighting over who is the better presidential candidate, and Pete is worried he won't have the same high hopes and good feelings with this election (and an impromptu kiss from a pretty security guard) and Liz says "There's no hope. Not for you or this country. If Joni Mitchell were here, she'd be like "The big men won't give peace a chance. The cobblestones! The cobblestones!" in her best Joni singing voice & Canadian intonation. The responsibility for the official site fell to Les Irvin who also created jmdl.com. Les has completely updated the official site and added lots of stuff, including Simon's Chronology. The official site now has the Library which Katherine Monk used extensively to research her book. Apparently nothing in the new box has been remastered. No one has mentioned any improvements in the sound and there are no bonus tracks. It's old wine in a new bottle. Question: Is the box version of Paprika Plains the original DJRD version or the SOAPG updated version? Anybody know if this is doable and if it will do any good? There are links to Google Play, AmazonMP3 and iTunes so I guess you could consider it as advertising. But 13 albums worth of music is way more than the longest infomercial you would see on tv for the Greatest Hits of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. > > A while back I found an entire Billie Holiday album posted on You Tube. I posted a rant about that too. A rarely seen live performance on You Tube is one thing. 13 albums worth of material with nothing but a picture on the screen is quite another if you ask me. > > Mark in Seattle > > -----Original Message----- From: Sally > Sent: Saturday, November 03, 2012 10:06 AM > To: Jamie Zubairi Home > Cc: Mark ; Richard Flynn ; joni@smoe.org > Subject: Re: New Joni You Tube Posting > > Nice job guys!
