I've never really understand what "quadrophonic" meant (four sounds, literally), so, is it possible that, listening to this on my crappy(ish) Mac speakers, it could really and truly sound better? I'm hearing the strings section much better, for example, and the piano sounds more "real" somehow. Of course, for years, people have been saying that the "Court and Spark" album always sounded too flat. I've never owned a good sound system, so I'm kind of used to the concept of "Good enough is best." >________________________________ > From: "simon@icu.com" >To: joni@smoe.org >Sent: Monday, September 17, 2012 1:01:19 PM >Subject: Quad C&S in Stereo (2 Songs) > >Quadraphonic LPs, played in Stereo, often offer interesting variations to the >2-Channel Stereo Mix. > >Check out "People's Parties" and "The Same Situation" from the Quad COURT And SPARK album. > > > > >There's a little surprise. It's much faster. The bass is up in the mix and the track is also much more compressed and modern sounding sonically. The Same Situation sounds like the same take but with a whole different approach to the reverb, which is much wetter. The strings are further back in the mix and enter later. I'm sure there are more differences but that was what I heard after one listen. Very nice to have these Simon. Thank you. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Sep 2012 13:14:13 -0700 From: Betsy Subject: Conversations with Joni Joni has been interviewed many, many, many times. We are so lucky to have the archives. For those who may meet her next week, I send best wishes for an actual human interaction. If you speak with her and don't bring back any news other than "she was lovely" or "she was grumpy" I will still not be disappointed.
