I know very little about Fiona, but I have "Criminal" (I almost wrote "Smooth Criminal" -- no, no, that's Michael Jackson. Haha!) on my iPod which I love. One other similarity which they have in common is both have been known to flee the stage in emotional breakdowns. I saw Fiona on Jimmy Fallon and he told the story of how at one point he opened for her, came off the stage, she went on and within 15 mins he was looking around saying, "Wait. Is she on or what?" She explained she had so much going on it completely overwhelmed her, etc. Lindsay On Jul 8, 2012, at 12:00 AM, JMDL Digest wrote: > > JMDL Digest Sunday, July 8 2012 Volume 2012 : Number 976 > > > > ========== > > TOPICS and authors in this Digest: > -------- > Re: Fiona vs Joni [carmel rotem ] > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Date: Fri, 6 Jul 2012 00:17:42 -0700 (PDT) > From: carmel rotem > Subject: Re: Fiona vs Joni > > > I agree with every word! > I'm also a Fiona fan who waited patiently for her > new album (which I liked from the first listen, and finding it even better > every listen). > I also thought about the similarities between her and Joni, but > couldn't put it into words as beautiful as you did. > so thanks for this! > I wish > I could see Fiona in concert, but not much hope for that here in Israel... > > Carmel. > > > > ________________________________ > From: JMDL Digest > > To: joni-digest@smoe.org > Sent: Monday, July 2, > 2012 6:25 AM > Subject: JMDL Digest V2012 #948 > > > JMDL Digest Sunday, > July 1 2012 Volume 2012 : Number 948 > > > > ========== > > TOPICS and > authors in this Digest: > - -------- > Fiona vs Joni ["Randy > Remote" ] > - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Date: > Sun, 1 Jul 2012 13:18:11 -0700 > From: "Randy Remote" > Subject: Fiona vs Joni > > [note: I sent this to jmdl a week and a half ago, for > some reason > it never appeared, so sending again-RR] > > While mulling over the > similarities between Fiona Apple, who has just > released a new CD, and Joni, I > came across a review of Apple's new > album > http://tinyurl.com/7apxvvm > that > discusses her "unflinching honesty and her music's role as > a conduit for her > truth.
