They're all very good and I particularly like the one of Judy Collins, who looks a little sad and serious. >________________________________ > From: Michael Sentance >To: joni@smoe.org >Sent: Saturday, June 23, 2012 3:44:58 PM >Subject: Actual "Blue" photo > >As yesterday was the anniversary of the release of "Blue" and there was >some discussion on this list of the altered photo used for the cover, I >thought I would pass along the untouched photo by Tim Considine of Joni: > >http://www.authorsandartists.com/Tim/Faces/TC4-0003a.htm > >(Not affiliated with Considine or that web site.) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Jun 2012 23:33:41 -0700 (PDT) From: coke like Subject: Re: Blue Album Cover I didnt know it was a 60's shot. Interesting. I wanted to look at the picture closer too. I just pulled it out of my temporary internet files folder. It doesnt look photoshopped to me, but then I am no expert on that. Over at Steve Hoffman forum, someone said it could've been shopped but I dont know how you could sharpen up the original cover and make it look like that. The cover is pretty high contrast, how could you put the details of her hair back in there? You can also see just a hint of her teeth. Maybe not impossible. We need a real answer from someone who knows. I just looked this up in Karen O'Brien's book and it says the cover was a shot taken by Considine at the Troubador around '67 or '68. O'Brien also says that Joni had originally wanted to call the album 'River' and that Joel Bernstein had an idea for a photo that sounds similar to the photo inside the 'Hejira' cover. Maybe that was filed away somewhere in the back of my head when I wrote something awhile back about 'Blue' and 'Hejira'. There's a lesson. Look before you type! The photo on the website is dated 1968 and Blue wasn't released until 1971. Why would a 3 year old photo have been used? ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2012 #191 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here:mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe
