See article below published May 16, 2012. It is so good to see some progress being made in better understanding Morgellons Disease. Cindy New Morgellons Publication in current issue of Journal of Clinical & Investigative Dermatology Research! Morgellons Disease: A Chemical and Light Microscopic Study Marianne J. Middelveen1, Elizabeth H. Rasmussen2, Douglas G. Kahn3 and Raphael B. Stricker1* Abstract Morgellons disease is an emerging multisystem illness characterized by unexplained dermopathy and unusual skinassociated filament production. Despite evidence demonstrating that an infectious process is involved and that lesions are not self-inflicted, many medical practitioners continue to claim that this illness is delusional. We present relevant clinical observations combined with chemical and light microscopic studies of material collected from three patients with Morgellons disease. Our study demonstrates that Morgellons disease is not delusional and that skin lesions with unusual fibers are not self-inflicted or psychogenic. We provide chemical, light microscopic and immunohistological evidence that filaments associated with this condition originate from human epithelial cells, supporting the hypothesis that the fibers are composed of keratin and are products of keratinocytes. My son Dennis just had his 16th birthday and asked for a lot of music. Boy, did I end up feeling like a crabby old person. Barnes & Noble has no music department anymore. I went to Best Buy and found a lot of picked over stuff and mostly "Best of" compilations. So everything gets reduced to "I don't care about most of it, what was your hit and throw the rest out." He wanted old stuff like Temptations, James Brown and one request was Elton John (Best Buy had none). I just was really peeved about the whole situation. Of course I download music but I think back to my teenage years where I lived for the next album, pored over the album art and liner notes. And where artists like Joni took time to think about how the album flowed (the concept of Song to a Seagull). Of course I'm not telling anyone here anything new. I ended up downloading Elton John's first album, Madmen Across the Water and Honky Chateau to start. He said he does listen to stuff in album form, not shuffled. Maybe there's hope. They never get old, to me. Kilauren's performance? I didn't watch/listen to the end (guess that tells you how taken by it I was), but hey -- it was recorded with a video camera and, chagrined as I am by people who get onstage and sing when they aren't great singers, part of me admires those who "damn well do it anyway." Wish I had more of that kind of nerve, though if I did I might embarrass myself. Kate b?b 1b.b?b 1b.b?b 1b. If you made a graph and put on the Y-axis "What Joni wanted to do" and on the X-axis "what the public wanted to hear", C&S would definitely win. Not saying it's her BEST, or my favorite (although on any given day it might be), but as far as having 'the most universal appeal'...yep, that's the one. It would be difficult to come up with that in this group...I'll throw in 2 and see if anyone says "Oh no I can't stand that record"... 1. Rickie Lee Jones - debut 2.
