I knew the painting you mentioned before even going to the page, but Joni's comments about it are very interesting and illuminating and, in some cases, humorous: "I have no depth perception. Well (laughs)? I'm one-eyed (laughs)." Joni-fans, the article is well worth reading because it talks about Joni's painting technique but also gives some background on her performance in Japan and on Wayne Shorter's wife Ana, who was killed in a plane crash.
