Wow, that's harsh. I have my doubts about Taylor Swift, but am willing to keep an open mind about it. I think Mia W would be good though - we know she can act, but can she sing? >________________________________ > From: Moni Kellermann >To: JMDL >Sent: Sunday, April 22, 2012 7:30:51 AM >Subject: article: "Taylor Swift to Potentially Ruin Another Thing" > >source: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/entertainment/2012/04/taylor-swift-potentially-ruin-another-thing/51416/ > >"Remember when you first heard a Joni Mitchell song and it was like some astral stranger was crawling out of the speakers and wrapping you in a bittersweet embrace? Well, friends, those fond memories will soon be gone, destroyed by none other than Taylor Swift. Yes, America's most famous deer fetus is "circling" the role of Joni Mitchell in a planned biopic of Mitchell, Carly Simon, and Carole King. Which, ugh. Taylor Swift writes fun pop songs and seems like a nice enough young lady, but Joni Mitchell she is not nor will ever be. Why would you cast Taylor Swift when Mia Wasikowska, a proven good actress who bares some resemblance to a young Mitchell, is right there? (Plus she's already played a character named Joni.) Who's going to play Carly Simon, Selena Gomez? Miranda Cosgrove as Carole King? This whole court's outta order! Please let this be like that Taylor Swift in Les Mis thing, a terrible rumor that gets thrown around a lot but ultimately proves untrue. C'mon, guys. Don't this. Don't do it for Joni." ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2012 12:06:45 +0100 From: Anita G Subject: Re: Joni reference in new John Mayer song Quite liked the riff, made me feel really old that people are writing songs about an era I was around for, but also pictured Joni (as she did with Dave Crosby and 'Yvette in English) going through John Mayer's lyric with her red pen writing across the page 'Cliche, Cliche'. I must attempt to write a song about my quest to find ANYONE with half the depth, perception, insight, musicality, complexity, profoundity, mystic quality and lyrical brilliance of the Great Artist of British Columbia. There could be no mistaking who the song is about! I am not wishing her ill, of course; it's just that, in my experience, quittinggives you a longer and better life. Plus, smokers don't knowwho and how many they're alienating chemically. I am an artist and former smoker. I can relate to her. > Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2012 04:21:34 -0400 > From: owner-joni-digest@smoe.org > To: joni-digest@smoe.org > Subject: JMDL Digest V2012 #546 > > > JMDL Digest Sunday, April 22 2012 Volume 2012 : Number 546 > > > > ========== > > TOPICS and authors in this Digest: > -------- > joke on you ["ingrid lochrenberg" ] > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2012 10:03:47 +0200 > From: "ingrid lochrenberg" > Subject: joke on you > > Maybe Joni's sense of humour is in full swing and she is doing her makeup to > look older...she seems full of life and when you feel younger through love > the aging process reverses, not so? > > ------------------------------ > > End of JMDL Digest V2012 #546 > ***************************** > > ------- > To post messages to the list, send tojoni@smoe.org. > Unsubscribe by clicking here: > mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe > ------- ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2012 #112 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here:mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe
