Somehow I confused Laura Nyro with Nico! Despite my lame-ness, "That Girl Could Sing" is thought to be about Laura Nyro. The real connection is that they dated briefly in the early '70s (I think before Joni but I'm not quite sure on the chronology). The other suspect is Valerie Carter, one of Jackson's back-up singers. She also sang for and toured with James Taylor for years, and has written some songs and recorded solo. Hope that helps. Sorry for the confusion! - -Corey On Feb 6, 2012, at 9:32 AM, Stewart.Simon@sunlife.com wrote: > "That Girl Could Sing" is typically thought to be about Laura Nyro, who > Jackson wrote for early in his career. > > - -Corey > > I've been having a Jackson Browne afternoon here in ATLanta.
