You do not have to be present to bid as there is an Internet option as is typical these days with higher end auctions. Bradley and I have been part of several of Julien's Auctions in the past and can personally vouch for their integrity. They value the signed LP at the $200-$400 range, but, beware -- they also valued a pair of Bette Midler's 1970s Disco Shoes at $700 and they sold for $10,000. These things get crazy. I've seldom seen things go below valued price -- if so, they are pulled. Note to all: Hang onto your signed stuff. Go to _https://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/37/?page=16&__utma=1.1661341722.1321682764.1321682764.1321682764.1&__utmb=1.2.10.1321682764& __utmc=1&__utmx=-&__utmz=1.1321682764.1.1.utmcsr=(direct)|utmccn=(direct)|ut mcmd=(none)&__utmv=-&__utmk=123001483_ (https://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/37/?page=16&__utma=1.1661341722.1321682764.1321682764.13216 82764.1&__utmb=1.2.10.1321682764&__utmc=1&__utmx=-&__utmz=1.1321682764.1.1.u tmcsr=(direct)|utmccn=(direct)|utmcmd=(none)&__utmv=-&__utmk=123001483) to view the item or go to _www.JuliensAuctions.com_ (http://www.JuliensAuctions.com) and look for lot # 1214 of the Icons and Idols Auction. There are lots of juicy items being auctioned. Joan Baez, Neil Young, CSN, Hendrix, Led Zep, The Who, Zappa etc. etc. etc. There is also a limited public viewing of the items -- but don't count on seeing all -- there are literally thousands of things being auctioned on December 1-4. It takes two catalogues (beautiful themselves, but pricey -- buy about three pricey auction items over time and you suddenly get them for free in the mail via UPS) just to inventory the items. The books are collectors' items. I was happy to see Joni included among the greats. There's also a pretty swanky Liberace auction going on in NY -- email me privately for details. It just doesn't get better than this. :-) No regrets. LOL, loved it!! In some perverse way, I wish she did have another child with Geffen! Sue, I loved your Joni dream, too - LOL! She would never find you a poser but that is funny as hell! I only ever had one Joni dream long ago. In high school I used to sneak off to a "hippie" house in a California canyon that was not Laurel or Topanga but was a good facsimile. Always filled with artists and musicians and great conversation and music jams. This was around 1969 to 1971. Crazily, as was true of those times, one of the artist's parents owned the house but they were away in Wash. D.C. where his dad was working as Chief of Protocol in the Nixon administration. Haha! I learned years later that the reason why those parties were never shut down was that there was always "alternative" security who were keeping watch and kept the local law enforcement away. ALL of the house residents and regulars adored Joni and we regularly played and sang her songs. My likeminded Joni friends followed me to the house like moths to a flame. She was the muse from the beginning. I fell madly and somewhat foolishly in love with one of the musicians who lived there. Good and not good times but he was a great inspiration in fueling my songwriting and art in another life and we remained friends for many years. But the house gatherings and the great times there were so special to me. I dreamed one night that I had, impossibly and improbably, found a way for Joni to come and visit one of our music jams there. There she was, validating all the love we had for her. It was the apex of all our dreams. Years later those dreams were all realized in a way when I found the JMDL. I never in a millions years would ever have dreamed that I would actually get to meet her someday, so when I did, it was beyond a dream come true. Yes, it's sometimes a lot of emails, but the subject line is meaningful, so it's easy to choose the ones I want to read. I find it particular great now that my email is gmail, because all of the messages in a given thread are kept together. I also have a filter set up, so all of my joni emails go into one "inbox". They are also isolated on my phone, so if I'm ever stuck in a line, I can then catch up on all of my Joni email. I would argue strongly in favor of NOT going to some alternative Yahoo universe which might involve changing my paradigm.
