"There was a touching moment when Britney Spears picked up an acoustic guitar and sang her favourite Joni Mitchell song, her voice soaring to the highest rafters of the O2 Arena like a Louisiana songbird " OK, thats not strictly true. There are no acoustic guitars and no Joni Mitchell covers on Britneys Femme Fatale tour. There doesnt appear to be much singing either. You had to strain to hear the shrill cadences of Spearss real voice at the O2. Most of the vocals were pre-recorded; during Toxic, the singer grinned as her heavily processed voice made a computerised swoop vocal virtuosity, Britney-style. Paul responded: I think not, Bob, but I think it would be fun to ask you JMDLers if you were the producer or writer for Glee and you had to pick four Joni songs for the cast to perform during a Glee show with only Joni music, which four songs would you choose for members of the Glee cast to perform? First, I agree with Paul that this is never going to happen. Joni's influence far surpasses her popularity, and most people have never heard 90% of her catalog. I even read a comment on the Jane Fonda blog that said it was too bad she quit making music and didn't release much after C&S. How sad...just over a dozen studio albums including a Pop Album of the Year. So anything done on Glee would probably be from 69-74. I'd like to hear something other than the usual suspects. Maybe In France They Kiss on Main Street, Night Ride Home, Black Crow, and Impossible Dreamer. How many times does David's name pop up in your concert database? And thanks to JoniMitchell.com I was able to see the album cover that Joni did for him. I was unfamiliar with it. RIP David Rea, thanks for all the beauty you brought into the world.
