I think not, Bob, but I think it would be fun to ask you JMDLers if you were the producer or writer for Glee and you had to pick four Joni songs for the cast to perform during a Glee show with only Joni music, which four songs would you choose for members of the Glee cast to perform? He was a real character. My wife and I attended one of his shows in a tiny lounge in Kingston WA about 10 years ago. There was one other couple in the audience that night. Rea came over to our table at the end of the show and as long as we kept buying him drinks he kept up the steady stream of stories, including a few graphic descriptions of time spent with Joni. He said she had given him a number of paintings back in the day (Detroit and Toronto) and he had phoned her to get permission to use them for the album art on his latest release, "x7." He said she unconditionally gave him permission to reproduce the art and they chatted for some time, getting caught up after about 20 years. A couple of years ago we were vacationing on the coast at a hotel in Ocean Shores (WA) and while dining one day I looked up and saw him walking down the aisle, passing right by our table. I knew he wouldn't remember us but I hailed him and he gladly accepted our offer to join us for lunch. This time he spoke mostly about his time with Ian and Sylvia and told us how he had been able to live off the royalties for one song, "Mississippi Queen," for all these years. "I wrote that song in like five minutes, man," he said. He was walking with a cane that day and had a bit of a far-away look in his eye but his voice was strong and he carried his journal openly in his hand. I too hope he is resting in peace.
