Globe article Haha, just picked up the Globe magazine at the market (hey, my mom and her elderly neighbors enjoy it ;-) Nothing new but here is what they say about Joni - "The Big Yellow Taxi singer needs all she can get as she battles the bizarre Morgellons disease that can sprout painful sores and rashes on her body. A star since her 1968 debut album with hits Both Sides Now and Chelsea Morning, the Canadian songbird and polio survivor notes that 'Morgellons is always diagnosed as a "delusion of parasites" and they send you to a psychiatrist.' But Joni is convinced it's real. 'I have this weird, incurable disease that seems like it is from outer space,' says the 67 year old singer. Fibers in a variety of colors protrude out of my skin like mushrooms after a rainstorm. They cannot be forensically identified as animal, vegetable or mineral.'" Because it's the Globe, there is probably no way to know how Joni is currently faring from the disease but I thought her "delusions of parasites" line was a great description and potential new song lyric. The article address "20 Top Pop Stars" and some other info I learned was that Jackie DeShannon released a new album, "When You Walk in the Room," on Sept. 27th. Love her! Throughout their marriage the music was hers and larry's ive always felt but there are some wonderful songs in there.Once she was on her own again we started to get the simpler stuff again if simple can be a word applied to anything Joni. There were some middle of the road, middle aged things going on under the influence of the guitar man i thought. no offence meant . just thoughts that often occurred to me during that period and i for one was relieved when it was over.i'm a bit red faced posting this but i will since i am part of the gang and can take whats coming...i think ! I'm burning a solo acoustic show from March 02, 1972 in Philadelphia, PA. This was after "Blue" but before "For The Roses" was released. It's Joni in a solo-acoustic setting playing piano, guitar and dulcimer. It's on 2 CDs and includes Jackson Browne's solo-acoustic opening set. I'm willing to burn this 2 CD-R set for anyone in the US or Canada who mails in the blanks. If you are in the US, you should send return postage. If you are in Canada, I'll cover the return postage. No money will change hands. Sorry, but I've promised not to rip this show to mp3s. For details, write to me off list. Thanks goes out to simon for this fine show. There are some good stories like the one about Carey. - ---------------------- I'm also burning another show... Joni with James Taylor playing the BBC on Oct 29, 1970. This show is on one CD and includes my favorite performances (ever) of "California" and "Steamroller Blues". Send 3 blanks to get both shows. Thanks to simon for this show too. All requests are welcome.
