The golden age of the studio musician indeed! On the FZ section, I'm not sure if Max meant to say esoteric instead of ethereal. I think Frank's music was easily the former but not the latter. Maybe I can learn more as we get more acquainted and add an addendum to the interview. We are rehearsing with him next week. Dave On Sep 13, 2011, at 10:35 PM, Randy Remote wrote: > Excellent! Dear Joni friends, I am happy to announce an upcoming Joni extravaganza concert on Sunday Nov 6th (happy 68th birthday Joni!) at Dizzy's in San Diego at 7pm. http://dizzysjazz.com/calendar.php Robin Adler and Mutts of the Planet will perform the Blue and Court and Spark albums in their entirety, and guess who will be playing bass? Max Bennett!! Yes, indeed, the man who recorded Court and Spark in the first place! Max said he would love to play with us after receiving our Safaris to the Heart CD and we are honored to have him join us. We need to pack the place so if you can get yourself to San Diego that night you should, or if you know anyone who would want to come to this please spread the word. This is our biggest undertaking yet and should be a Joni night to remember. best wishes, Dave ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Sep 2011 18:03:58 -0700 From: "Mark" Subject: Re: Interview with Max Bennett I've been waiting to read this until I have some time of unclouded, rested ability to absorb and digest. Then Robin found what he had posted on Amazon about it so I printed that in lieu of quoting his interview remarks. He did tell me that Joni herself was not at all pleased with the album either, but he wasn't sure why, so I didn't want to include gossipy speculation or second hand hearsay. I plan to interview Henry Lewy and Jaco from beyond the grave next. We need to form a circle and hold hands by candlelight for this to work.
