The sense of the distant mists of time in parts of England is so strong, like being in Crete or Egypt. It is literally bewitching to be in the midst of such mysterious deep history. At the other end of the spectrum is Blenheim Palace, which W also captured, which bears witness to the opulence of the British empire and omnipotence of its military at its height.
