[Dave Blackburn Subject: resending with spaces around the link... Dear Joni friends, Just a quick NJC post here to let you know about Robin Adler's newly re-released first album, It's About Time. It's a great quirky jazz album featuring a variety of tunes, including originals, some standards and some contemporary covers jazzified (Paul Simon, Sting etc) and features the top jazz musicians from the San Diego area, in particular uber-guitarist Peter Sprague. We recorded it in 1998 but it has been out of print for several years. Now it is available again remixed and remastered by yours truly, and with new artwork. If you'd like to give a listen to all ten tracks (or even purchase a copy, hint, hint) please click here: http://www.robinadler.com/ . It's so new that it's not available as a download yet but will appear in iTunes in the coming weeks. best wishes always, Dave ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Jul 2011 19:26:41 +0200 From: "Laurent Olszer" Subject: Downloads, June Tabor & Brian Blade Hi All Bob and everybody: you can download for free the new Bon Iver in mp3 or FLAC on thepiratebay.org Hope this is accessible from China? Most other bands you like are on it too. I just discovered June Tabor and most of her albums are also on that site. She is the female equivalent of Richard Thompson, and i dare say she reminds me of Joni too. Obviously she's been around for years and perhaps she's been discussed here before but she's new to me This past monday i attended Daniel Lanois' Black Dub with the "beautiful" Brian Blade. He was amazing because he was able to insert his jazz drumming in the middle of straight rock/blues format. I mean he would alternate and mix both together as opposed to what i've always heard when jazz drummers join rock bands, that is they play jazz or rock but never the 2 together in the same song, at least not in the subtle way that Brian does it. I was in front of the stage and my jaw dropped. I've seen many great drummers but i don't think i've ever heard one who could blend in that way. Brian received a fantastic ovation from the audience. Incidentally i think Brian should keep on playing other people's music as i was very disappointed with his solo effort. I will upload a dvd of that concert on dime. You can only download torrent files there. There may be legal torrents there of public domain works or stuff with a creative commons license but 99% of the torrents share illegal copies. As for the new Bon Iver album, the New York Times has a streaming version online here: http://6thfloor.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/06/09/listen-to-the-new-bon-iver-record/ moni k. ------------------------------ End of onlyJMDL Digest V2011 #195 ********************************* ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:onlyjoni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe
