(sjc) I just want to take this opportunity to wish all the Canadians here on the List (and Joni too) a very Happy Canada Day! I am even flying a Maple Leaf flag (that has been living in the top of my hall closet for most of the past decade) in your honour today. And I even disabled my spell-chequer for the occasion! lol take good care everyone, Brian - ----------------------------------------------------------- Politicians and diapers both need to be changed often. Whoa, Bob, never heard this one. I can't believe how long I stay around here and still find out new things about Joni Mitchell. Finding recordings of all of these songs became sort of a holy grail, and thanks to a bunch of people I managed to get many of them. Several of them are stronger than lots of songs she did release, and Just Like Me, Born To Take The Highway, and Blue on Blue could have gone on to be big hits I'll bet. One of my proudest accomplishments was compiling these recordings and sending them to Henning for he and Christina to record, and they an incredible job of capturing the spirit of the song while refreshing the arrangement and adding additional color to give them a contemporary feel. Pamela Lucarelli has also recorded a couple of these older songs with the help of my pal Joey and they are equally lovely. Other covers of these songs are out there. That's an interesting one to be sure...if you heard it you'd never guess that Joni had anything to do with it except maybe in places. Don't know much of the back story on it, it's one of the questions I'll ask her when I get my long interview with her. The record was by O.C. Smith, known for his hit "Little Green Apples" which is two-thirds of a Joni cover too!
