Lisa Appignanesi's bio and achievements suggest a very intelligent and serious individual with a long history of solid credits. According to Wikipedia: "Her latest book, Sad, Mad, and Bad: A History of Women and the Mind Doctors won the 2009 British Medical Association Award for the Public Understanding of Science, amongst other prizes." ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisa_Appignanesi ) Sounds like she may be ruffling feathers in some quarters - which is, of course, a fine objective of journalists, artists and others who continue to broaden our horizons. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 May 2011 10:58:46 -0400 (EDT) From: harry83house@aol.com Subject: [none] http://ndambionline.com/ewm.php ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 May 2011 15:27:14 -0400 From: Ann Subject: [none] http://ajv.be/ewm.php ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 May 2011 17:01:04 -0500 From: T Peckham Subject: well-written blog post on Court & Spark Just stumbled across this--a lot of us can relate. ;-) Terra http://magnoliathoughts.com/2011/05/19/court-and-spark/ - -- "An artist can show things that other people are terrified of expressing." - ---Louise Bourgeois ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 May 2011 16:43:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Bob Muller Subject: Re: well-written blog post on Court & Spark Yeah, that was great - thanks for passing it along. Huge earthquake, then the Rapture, in which a tiny fraction of one percent of the human population will ascend to heaven (actually, only a tiny percent of *Chistians*; the rest of us don't have a prayer, so to speak). The rest of us (the lucky ones!!) will either die immediately during the earthquake, or slowly and horribly in its aftermath. Fundamentalists are a laff riot. Perhaps not surprisingly, my idea of Rapture is different; it involves the striking dumb of most politicians, the redistribution of wealth from multimillionaires and billionaires to the other 99.9999% of humanity, the end of all disease, yadayadayada -- and more relevant to this venue, Joni suddenly feeling great and energized and signing a 10-album deal with... anyone. I'm sure I'm leaving other important stuff out, but I'm distracted because I ordered stuff on Amazon, some of which probably won't get here by tomorrow. See you all in South Park's version of Hell. In their version of Heaven, only Mormons get in, and it's... really, really... nice... but sooooooo boring. I live in Utah, and love Mormons individually -- they're kind, incredibly friendly, generous, often funny -- but collectively, they are the Polite Borg. Actually, I was awakened at 4 a.m. this morning and scared out of what remains of my wits -- very violent thunderstorm with inch-sized hail. But it wasn't time yet for the big R, and I calmed down. Peace and love and good luck tomorrow to all, Walt ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 May 2011 19:24:38 -0700 (PDT) From: Bob Muller Subject: Re: Rapturous (too late for Joni, and most of us) Not to worry, Walt. It's already tomorrow here in Beijing and all is well. Quite a nice day in fact. Bob, wishing he had a dollar for everytime someone gave a date predicting the end of the world, I could be back home in SC because I could retire.
