The horror of all of that is quite mind numbing. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Laurent Olszer Sent: Tuesday, April 05, 2011 7:06 PM To: flysusie@gmail.com; lievereckers@yahoo.com.uk Cc: kbhla@fastmail.fm; joni@smoe.org Subject: RE: Charlie Rose's Green Room with Joni Mitchell 2008 To Kakki and all: The ebook is available at www.thepiratebay.org in mp3 format. Just enter Rosenbaum in the search engine. To Sue: About your course at Cornell, this is a very touchy subject and by no means I am going to imply that jews have a monopoly on suffering. Of course there have been too many dreadful genocides since WWII. But the truth is nothing compares to the holocaust in that it was a planned industrial endeavor by a state. Sure there have been mass killings ordered by states but, to illustrate my point with 1 example, they didn't "recycle" the victims into soap bars or lamp shades like the Nazis did. Did you know that? So I resent when some people, intellectuals or not, compare other genocides to the Shoah because for me that is a way to trivialize it. Likewise, and I know I am digressing here, comparing the Israelis with the Nazis is exactly the same denial campaign used by Palestinians, Iranians and their ilk. One may or may not agree with Israeli policies, but they don't do anything anywhere near what the Nazis did. Some of you may have thought he had passed away after my email in November, but he fought hard. When his partner David Rolls read your emails, he was so tickled. They really boosted his spirits. After that week stay in Hospice, he was back on his scooter taking his dog Molly for walks. Still, he was back in the hospital during Christmas for various things. The past 3 months he was in and out of both the hospital and Hope Hospice. Whenever I saw him or talked with him on the phone, he never complained and joked around just as David always did. It was less than two weeks ago, I was on the phone with him. He was asking if Joni was doing anything, and what was the latest conversation on the JMDL. He dearly loved you all. Now he's in the Chair in the Sky with Wally, J.J., Kenny, and MGVal. His service will be Saturday, April 16th. With the help of Bob Muller, I'm working on putting some Joni tunes for the memorial. For those that knew David, please feel free to let me know of a couple of Joni songs that would be appropriate. I'll be meeting with David Rolls soon to get his approval. Hugs to you all. I will never forget the kindness and love that Mingus showed me when my brother Dave died. Ming and Rolls planted a flowering tree in their yard in my brother's honour. Going on 8 years later, it still makes me cry. I loved Ming for this gift of love and care...and I think he knew that. I think the song River would be lovely. I shall have a think and see what else I can come up with for ideas, and with that said, I am sure that you and Bob will have plenty of good Joni songs for Ming. (We are both 24 degrees Pisces moons, so maybe that explains it. :)) The strategy of Fascism 70 years ago is too obvious and apparently brutal for today. Today's fascists are trying to achieve their ends (owning everything and ignoring the needs of most humans) by dressing up in nice suits and creating policies that some call "auto genocide" (M. Rose-Crow)--making it impossible for many people to survive without actually pulling a trigger. They are every bit as sociopathic as the 20th-century fascists....in some ways even more frightening because they hide behind the facade of white-collar respectability. If things progress in the direction they have been going, the neighborhoods will be death camps in which the state does not have to invest. Less expensive than the holocaust of the 30s and 40s. I am, however, heartened by what Rachel Maddow calls economic populism. Thank god for the workers' rights movement that is resounding across the country. a. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Apr 2011 19:34:16 -0400 From: Stephen_Epstein@hugoboss.com Subject: Re: David Mingus Hi Jimmy, Trust all is alright with you Am saddened by this news, of course.
